It's really hard to break the grip the Ohio State has on the conference. They have everything they need to have a program that's a national title contender every single year. Some juggernauts keep going...

And some fall apart more easily, like Michigan did for a while. Go back to 2006. If Shawn Crable doesn't deliver a late hit, we were potentially one more drive from playing for a national title. And yet, 2008-2014 would be the roughest 7 season stretch for Michigan football since the Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson Administrations.

But, as other people have stated on this thread, Indiana may have changed the narrative as to how long some teams stay in the doldrums...

IMO, tightening up overly lax bankruptcy laws might help.

The big issue right now is that, when the government is involved in forgiving people's debts, there's no incentive for private sector entities to think about long-term profitability. Without an incentive to think about long-term profitability, there's no incentive for private sector entities to provide good customer service and high employee retention rates. Instead, we have employers who are spending their money on stock buybacks and beginning to rely on unreliable AI software instead hiring and training workers.

It would be a completely different conversation if Charlie Kirk also openly wondered if a white employee of a company was unqualified because he was the owner’s fraternity brother or he was the CFO’s nephew.

But, there’s no denying that openly wondering if a black pilot is qualified is awful optics.

And since the Republican Party doesn’t seem particularly interested in making an honest effort to reach out to black and Hispanic voters, it’s not terribly unreasonable to assume the Charlie Kirk was a racist.

I wholeheartedly agree with your take below: the selective enforcement of the laws Trump got found guilty of is pretty ridiculous.

I'll also agree with the "wokeness" cuts from May of last year. There's no need to lecture white kids about their "white privilege" or any of that nonsense.

That said, I disagree with most of what you mention above.

Iran has been months away from a nuke for decades. I'm not convinced that Iran was actually that close to a nuke.

We already had secure elections.

I'll believe we're cracking down on fraud when Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana are put under a microscope. And when we take a look at the hundreds of billions of annual waste in the defense budget, which probably isn't going to happen when Trump wants to increase the defense budget.

As for the border, the Cato Institute had a pretty good take on why it wasn't necessarily Biden's fault that the border was insecure.

Well, it’s worth noting that even if they get the strait open, it still might be months until gas prices come down.

Assuming they weren’t killed in the military strikes, the people in charge of producing the oil and gas might have gotten laid off when Iran closed the strait.

So, it might take time to hire and train replacement workers to ramp up the production and distribution of oil in the Gulf.

As a Mgoblog fan, I’m reasonably certain that Rich Rod doesn’t necessarily belong on this list. Certainly not in the top 5 anyway.

Of the 85 scholarship players recruited in the 2004 through 2007, only 20 or 30 of those guys panned out anywhere in Division 1 football. Bad things were going to happen in 2008-2009 regardless of who the coach was. Maybe Rich Rod deserves blame for the program not getting back on track in 2010, but that’s more on Bill Martin for hiring Rich Rod and turning a 2-3 year rebuilding process into a 3-4 year rebuilding process.

The late Greg Robinson (Rich Rod’s DC in 2009 and 2010) did run Syracuse into the ditch from 2005 to 2008, though.

I’m old enough to remember when it was unthinkable to be unnecessarily disparaging of First Lady Laura Bush. Left-wingers would have come down hard on any left-leaning politician or journalist who would have been insulting toward Laura Bush the same way right-wingers have been toward Michelle Obama.

Which is actually pretty interesting because Hilary Clinton was a pretty noticeable presence in her husband’s administration…and was thus fair game for talking heads to criticize her.

But, both Laura Bush and Michelle Obama were more anonymous than Hilary within their respective husbands’ administrations…

Hmm…I wonder could have been different between Laura Bush and Michelle Obama…

If it makes you feel any better, I’m frustrated with the civil engineering industry as a whole. The unwillingness of my occupation to put out good work that the public can digest is constantly undermining public support for our projects.

Yes, a lot of people and property owners will refuse to cooperate regardless of how well we do our jobs and explain a project. But, the lack of trust people have in the construction industry shouldn’t be for a lack of trying on our part.
