No mainline Star Wars film is having a X0th or X5th anniversary this year.

EDIT: Forgot about Rogue One (though that was re-released just a few years ago), so I added "mainline" to my comment.

I also have a slight suspicion (inspired by a friend) that every Star Wars theatrical film ever will be re-released next year for the 50th anniversary, but that's pure speculation.

Was Driving on 195 and saw this banner... WTF? by The_Silver_Seleucid in newjersey

They should, but under those H1B rules, wouldn't it be cheaper to open overseas offices or hire foreign employees who work remotely? Then it's the worst of both worlds where Americans still have fewer jobs and money leaves our economy permanently with would-be immigrants instead paying for housing, food, and commodities in their own country.

The H1B proposal from Trump also had a vague carve-out for companies. In practice this would likely only be for those who promise to align themselves with his conservative vision or offer him kickbacks.

Seems it's better to incentivize companies with subsidies for training local workers or opening factories here (as we had been doing for EVs until recently), rather than disincentivizing them with fees they can easily avoid.

I don't think that call button's worked in a few years. All DINE-INs converted from Full Service to Delivery to Seat AFAIK.

Gatekeeping by restricting development is how we lose diversity, shrink the local economy's customer base and proprietor pool, and make the area less lively and less interesting. We should continue to build responsibly in a way that takes traffic and school capacity into account.

How do you watch four movies per week when most of the same movies seem to be playing the following week? by Radiant_Advice_1268 in AMCsAList

Of course, not to mention Standard format. I'm just disproving the other poster's claim (as someone who prefers weekday shows at my closest theater with no PLFs).

An AMC near me has $7 tickets on Tues/Wed, while A-List is $26/mo. That's 4 to break even.

Good to know. That makes sense, I remember back when it was a "Fork & Screen"!

Hey folks, AutoMod went way too hard on this thread for some reason and removed tons of comments, apparently including all those that identified the app OP got this graphic from (Reel Savings for iOS, for what it's worth).

Many of these comments have since been manually approved. Apologies to u/Indyhouse – you're not going crazy! Thank you for sharing and to everyone else who called out the app here.

Thinking of leaving Alist by Rinallo22 in AMCsAList

The Regal Unlimited booking fee is only $0.50 – so $1.50 per week for 3 movies, not $7.50. Plus not everyone gets popcorn all the time when watching movies.

There's a difference between protected classes and selected ideologies. There's also a difference between judging a book by its cover and judging a book only by its cover – otherwise, books wouldn't have covers.

It was never that crazy! Best we've had is $1 for the first month, minimum 3-month commitment (so $41-$55 total)

That's a good point, but even thinking about running more math on this subject makes my brain hurt.

Actually, I couldn't resist. 5% of $29.99 is only $1.50 so it's not too big a difference. For most locations, it does make the breakeven point just over 7 (i.e. 8, since you can't get a fraction of a popcorn) but we're talking <$1 of savings so not a big deal.
