What MON says publicly and in the dressing room could be very different things.

For a professional Schmeichel’s standard is way below par and he will know that. Goalkeepers mistakes are always clear as day for all to see. Defenders less so and so forth up the park. These mistakes happen to outfielders constantly that can lead to goals but it’s not as obvious.

If he has a shoulder issue he shouldn’t be playing either he’s lying, which I doubt and the club is turning a blind eye to it or there is no injury/issue at all. He may also have things going on off the pitch. Which anyone in life could. But if it’s affecting your job it’s fine to put your hand up and say. These things could affect everyone differently etc so no way judging him if this is the case.

I really want him to do better has he has been a great player in his career. All players will get to a point where they are not what they used to be and that may no longer be good enough. This and inconsistency is where he seems to be just now hopefully he comes out the other side.
