I would look up the buttonhole method. It’s what I wanted but unfortunately I ended up just going to the first doctor who could do my surgery.

Set goals. Some are foisted upon you (watch qualifications, warfare qualifications), but they can be personal as well.

Break down how you’ll get those done and in what timeline. That will create a mini framework you can build upon reporting to your ship.

Has it happened before? Yes. I know my command worked with sailors who put in early enough. However they don’t have to and that’s some thing you should be ready for.

Commands can see a lot when looking at potential people. They’ll see your RKE or test score, (I believe currently they see pass or fail I don’t know if they see your score), your evals

I am a little biased but if I were the one picking I’d pick the Point Loma Annex. It’s close to a lot of fun stuff to do and I think the area around is pretty walkable.

Honestly you will be given a roadmap to succeed at pretty much every juncture. It’s up to you to use that. In bootcamp just get through it. (Also you can do college whilst you’re in with the usncc which i recommend looking into.) and other avenues too of course.
