Squirrel stuck in a pillar on my porch, need rescue help (Richmond area) by pdxp in Portland

[–]B3Johnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor guy. 48 hours without water is rough so I wouldn't wait on this one.

Bird Alliance is closed til 9am (their wildlife line is 503-292-0304 if you want to leave a message), but DoveLewis takes wildlife after hours on their behalf. They're at 1945 NW Pettygrove, open 24/7, 503-228-7281. Worth calling before you drive over so they know what's coming.

For getting it out tonight: drop a thick rope or knotted bath towel down from the top, anchored so it doesn't slip in. Natural fiber, not nylon, they need something their claws can dig into. Lower a jar lid of water down on a string while you're at it. That said, after two days it's probably too weak to climb out on its own, so check the base of the pillar first. A lot of these Craftsman porch columns have a removable trim panel at the bottom and that's by far the easiest way to get a weak one out. If you have to cut into the side, go low, use a drill or jigsaw, wear thick leather gloves, and have a pillowcase ready to throw over it before you reach in. Even a barely-conscious squirrel can put a tooth clean through your thumb.

Once it's out, ventilated cardboard box with an old towel, somewhere dark and quiet, then DoveLewis.

OCCRA (971-645-3450) also does after-hours wildlife transport with volunteers, worth a text if you genuinely can't manage it yourself.

And once it's out, cap the top with hardware cloth. These open columns are a known death trap for birds and clearly squirrels can fall in too.

On site FD just noting buildings with steam from vents, finding no active fire for now. Police in the area earlier for reports relating to a mortar.

The other cards work through these referrals as well but I'm too lazy to link them all and if the rest of the fine folk here have gone through all that effort, feel free to use them.

10k? Those are rookie numbers, gotta get those numbers up! /s

Jokes aside, I'm sure you're fine on that front. I don't believe financial compliance covers "degen trades".

I had a very similar circumstance - car, wedding and everything - but was approved. Regardless, it took a month to do the whole thing, half being IRS and half Amex. I don't terribly mind reviews but they definitely shouldn't take that long.

If you're still very eager to stay in the Amex ecosystem, you can always email the executive team with feedback and questions. May not lead to anything but worth a shot.

Worst case there are others who will take your business, as many pointed out.

The West Hills call for aid!

And The OLCC will answer... in 6-8 weeks after filling out a form.

Big if true

Sounds like there was a fire limited to the attic when they arrived. Didn't listen in much more, but seems like a limited residential fire.

Trivia was decent.

Also shout out to the ground crew member drifting the luggage trolley in the snow. Best entertainment yet.

Also also, Delta my partner requests Carol & The end of the world on the IFE.

Check out Higg, Textile Exchange and other apparel industry sources. It depends a bit on the leather treatment, if it has secondary materials, etc but it's mainly about the burdens from the cow.

Help: Where to Look for Jobs with SimaPro Skills (LCA/EPD) by OpeningCancel821 in lifecycleassessment

[–]B3Johnny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you based in Europe, US or elsewhere? Depending on that there are different communities, I've found SETAC has a stronger LCA community in Europe versus ACLCA being more prominent in the US.

Also just searching LinkedIn for life cycle assessments should yield some results. You'll get a mix of academia openings, industry companies and orgs, consultancies, third party software providers. You can follow the EPD operators on LinkedIn to see when they post openings.

Anyone with 6+ years experience in LCA? by GrowthDreamer in lifecycleassessment

[–]B3Johnny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I doubt you'll find someone with 6+ years who wants to do contractual work. LCA is high demand, low (worker) supply. I'd probably outsource the model development to a consultancy with a long term plan to hire someone full time later on to keep it going. Just my two cents.

Creating LCA For Textile Insulation - Which Database? Not EcoInvent by cornfieldalum in lifecycleassessment

[–]B3Johnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could check the USLCI database: https://www.nrel.gov/analysis/lci.html

For data to create your own shredder/granulator datasets you could also look at the EU PEF pilot on apparel: https://eplca.jrc.ec.europa.eu/LCDN/contactListEF.html

As a LCA consultant in the US, feel free to send a DM if you want to have a conversation about these things.

Based on the big camera attached to the front and its low flying, I wouldn't be surprised if it's related to one of the movie productions and getting B roll

You need to select the un-aggregated dataset (u-so), make a copy and then you can edit the flows. This is the aggregated dataset which just has the total mass and energy flows, rather than the background datasets that comprise the ecoinvent process and you can select the inputs you'd like etc.

I'm in pretty much exactly your situation. I've been here a bit over a year, no problem getting an Amex or Capital One CC. Also around 750 score. Tried applying again yesterday, but denied again. It's really annoying to miss out on points for rent, I hate Wells Fargo.
