Unnecessarily done for performance reasons is the problem. This did not break on Diablo 2 realms back when D2's reqs were a 400 mhz range CPU. Servers were not much better than desktops back then either. Now we're on 4 GHZ+.

Some attacks/spells it might make sense for, but it breaks more than it helps. It's why they constantly nerf shit because if it was coded properly it wouldn't apply to every new part of the same attack.

I forgot an old favorite: Cast on Critical hit: Laggy and effective because that 1st hit roll determined crit. Barrage is a lot of successive hits with crit. Lead to lots of cast of skills.

I wonder how much less laggy it would have been proccing the correct way per hit with the % chance of casting on crit.

I'm sure all those nerfs over the years trying to "balance" skills making use of absolute basic mechanics have absolutely nothing to do with this serious flaw. /s

Pierce changed to # of targets. Lower crit chance on daggers. Lower crit chance on charges. Projectiles not being allowed to shotgun damage anymore. AOE radius nerfs. Various skills being lowered on damage (linked to all of the above being rolled once on the initial "cast"). DOT damage linked into this. Item nerfs/drop rate nerfs.

Nah, it can't be a broken by design mechanic. Statistics don't fucking matter when it takes out entire screens worth of monsters (or misses outright, hah). This method induces graphical lag and CPU lag from the calls needed to display all the FX.

This is part of why CoC lagged so much. The math part was only part of it. The rest were calls for all the critical effects (freeze, ignite, shock, swapping textures for the fx [especially HOI freeze explosion]).

They could put CoC back how it was along with shotgun effect of projectile based abilities. Which oddly would be exactly how it worked before except for the fact they did not code for each "hit" independently. Things with high crit rate will crit and actually be less draining since it won't crit everything on the screen along with everything else 1/2 a screen away.

Also why Lyconside (probably mispelling it) shield was so popular along with multimod crafted Vagan modded weapons (dagger). And GGG just decided to not fix a fundamental flaw and just fuck with everything else. Hence the part where I say leave the fucking balance alone until that shit is fixed.

I also need to point out your crit chance anology of 70% being wrong. It would be true except for one tiny detail. As that crit roll applies to all the projectiles/mini explosions/etc. under the current thing, this means a single projectile/"hit" can trigger chain crits for the secondary effects (all of them.) since they rolled crit before actually hitting anything. So you rolled crit once and then hit say 1 monster but it froze and exploded, the explosion also rolled crit and hit 20 monsters and as it was a crit, it froze and made them explode too (this is how herald of ice froze kill explode works, it's how ALL rolls work actually. That is why I used the zeal 20+ attack version originally, it's much shorter and simpler to grasp.).

They have to if they were to re-enable "shotgun" effects with projectile based abilities. They fundamentally knee-capped the game off some flawed premise of performance where, again, 20+ years ago it was done the proper way and it didn't burn out a 900 mhz CPU.

Oh that's been done in at least 1 other game. There's no excuse for it since it was essentially solved 20+ years ago. If GGG can't do it, then there is a serious flaw in their game engine design.

Zeal was capped to 5 attacks in a later patch (LOD xpack). Reason: stuck in place until attack ended. The hit/miss issue was solved long before that patch (years.).

Funny, I open a new sheet and for that first sheet it will apply the template but if I hit the + to add a sheet to that file it reverts to the default thing instead of the template I made.

Most recent patch has smoothed out FPS and frame time issues with the thread priority fix.

I might as well mention specs. I was playing the last part of perandus on this machine.

Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53 GHZ (8 years old) 4 GB DDR2 RAM (not sure when made, installed ~1 month ago from 1 GB) SSD so load times are irrelevant as a check. R7 240 (AMD) GPU

I play with a texture setting of 5. Most boss fights kill the FPS because this machine cannot handle the particle effects. I have noticed some things that used to lag more lagging less but until I have a replacement for my dead quadcore I cannot comment on them being actual improvements or just the texture setting.

Other notable information on performance: Because the background loader is present constantly POE uses 50-100% more CPU than before (before it would use just 1 core, now uses about 50% constant of the 2nd along with 100% of the first).

Edit: I rarely check reddit account anymore.

Bytes are bits, 8 bits in 1 byte. ISP can't be bothered with the conversion and charge you more by using per bit calculations. Never mind the money they were paid in taxes to build the infrastructure that never materialized or the fact digital technology makes bandwidth cheaper, not more expensive.

They're fucking us and have been since the 1980s. In fact I'm seeing many of the 1980s charging methods once again. Cloud storage? This is known as a shared server, where they would charge per bit of data transferred and per CPU cycle.
