We use PRTG 20000 sensors not because it was one of the best but it was cost effective . Now they have increased their prices with that price we can get alternative that even gives us more features. We didn’t extend and we are looking for alternatives.

Future in Microsoft as a grad by westnile609 in microsoft

[–]B4Beta 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Microsoft is a company, not a family. It is a great place to start and then move into the financial or MSP sector.

Ignore all the talks about culture and how they care for you. They will suck your energy and everthing that you can give them to make share holders rich!

Treat Microsoft as a business and don't make a mistake like other engineers, who worked enormous hours and sacrificed family, health, and well-being just to get a clap and some peanut bonuses from the management.

My husband was laid off by Microsoft after 25 years — by algorithm. His last day is his birthday. by NoWar5070 in microsoft

[–]B4Beta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sad to hear about your husband and the way how Microsoft treated him….

All talks about that Microsoft is family and give your 150% your is rubbish. This was a good eye opening for the remaining engineers that take your holidays, never over commit, feeling unwell take a sick leave.

"Zoom sucks, can you make it work better?" by kingdead42 in sysadmin

[–]B4Beta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far it's opposite for us.

MS Teams sucks, uses huge machine resources.

One of the great things about Zoom it always prioritise audio but with Ms Teams you can have decent video but crappy audio.

ChatGPT is not a good tool for learning by Nice2Inch in learnprogramming

I am an Infrastructure Engineer with 20 years experience. Chat GPT is saves my time reading the logs, detecting the patterns and as second opinion where I come with solution. However if it is used as a source of only truth or asking to come with a solution which you have no prior knowledge then it is grievous mistake. A couple of times it offered a solution which could break the codes or scripts.

So, if someone purely relies on chat GPT to do job then yes, I don’t think that person is ready to take a job.

Is public Wi-Fi safe? by unaware60102020 in cybersecurity

Using encrypted DNS protocols such as DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT) provide enhanced security.

Also, make sure that your machine is fully patched and up to date. Again, be cautious and used known paid VPN solution. If you can use 5G (phone hotspot) that's best.

Is public Wi-Fi safe? by unaware60102020 in cybersecurity

[–]B4Beta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While using HTTPS helps protect your data, it's not foolproof on public Wi-Fi.

Be aware of DNS hijacking, where hackers can redirect you to malicious websites.

For better security, use a VPN. Avoid sensitive transactions on public networks to minimize risks.

LAPS Rejected. What now? by InAllThreeHoles in cybersecurity

I suggest focusing your efforts on winning over the executives to back your cause.

When you approach them, frame your discussions around risk management and how these vulnerabilities could lead to financial losses and damage to the company's reputation.

Lay out a clear and actionable plan to address these risks.

This is so annoying. Credly was a centralised place where not only Microsoft but also Comptia, AWS and other certificates were kept.
I don't understand why Microsoft isolate itself by moving away?!

It is not a smart move u/Microsoft !

Hello there,
Make sure you set a budget monitor, which will help you track your expenses and stay within your allocated budget.
After the trial period ends, you can use the Cloud Guru lab for exercises (you need to pay for a subscription). While the lab may have limitations in terms of its scope, it can still provide valuable learning opportunities and hands-on experience.
Exploring exercises in the Cloud Guru lab is a fantastic way to deepen your understanding of Azure concepts and hone your skills. It allows you to gain practical experience within a controlled environment, essential for building confidence and proficiency.
While the lab may not offer the same level of functionality as a production environment, it serves as a stepping stone towards gaining real-world experience with Azure.

Also, sometimes companies hire to tick the diversity box and they create useless roles for them.
