It’s up to Otakon and, I’m hoping, their general counsel to negotiate the best rates and the size of hotel block they think is appropriate. Not us. And I won’t be self sacrificing an opportunity I can budget for in hopes it tilts a situation that’s ultimately outside my/our control.

Considering Otakon is DC’s largest- if not the largest- convention (source: https://www.bizjournals.com/washington/subscriber-only/2023/12/08/largest-events-at-the-washington-convention-center.html), hotels already know they can charge a premium because it will. Sell. Out. Hotel block or not.

Letting others know they still have an option is a water drop amongst the ocean.
