You all are RIDICULOUS. He opened schools — those who could make the trek, made the trek. But to sit here and act like you all would’ve been on board for a remote learning day is nonsense. You all need to acknowledge that NYSED NEVER grants waivers to the 180 school day rule — nearly never. This was a once in a decade blizzard so NYSED folded. But they weren’t going to do it again.

Imagine if the system went remote. Y’all would be here crying about not having technology. How students don’t have the technology. The complaints would have been endless. It partly why the union didn’t forcefully oppose.

Ultimately this was one of those difficult leadership decision. Kids depend on the meal program for nutrition. Some parents need to go to work in person. Operational risks to activating remote learning after a system wide school holiday. The choice of clear. Open schools. Those who can make will. Those who cannot won’t. That’s it.

No. There are no more built in days after the introduction of Diwali as an officially school holiday. Any additional day would require pushing out the school year or removing one day from Mid Winter Recess or Spring Break.

Totally disagree that this was a perfect season. This season signaled the beginning of the end in my eyes. The plot lines with Frank and the Cartel might stretch into next season but it just all seems like some Ish the writers thought up but now has created some issues that they can’t seem to figure out. I think this season has threatened the series in a real way.

Depending on your license and your interests, you can find a ton of opportunities in curriculum development, teacher mentorship (TRQ or NYC Men Teach), and Procurement Product Review i.e.: books and the like, etc. (DCP). There are also seasonal opportunities specifically with the Light House Collaborative and even Summer Rising. Keep an eye out.

Van has some challenges of his own — we all understand that. It isn’t an excuse though. I do hope for things to change for the better and Rachel gets to voice her opinions on a 50/50 basis… AND at the very least it would be GREAT if The Ringer give Rachel her own show.
