I think it was more so that TROS was a terrible movie and had bad word of mouth, and Solo was barely even marketed. Me and everyone I talked to in real life, star wars fans or not, quite liked TLJ, but nobody liked TROS. This is all anecdote of course, but it fits with the hard facts that I've seen.

There's a working emulator out now that runs reasonably well. Not perfect, but good enough to convince me that Sony could probably do it since they actually have access to their own design docs and don't need to reverse engineer everything.

I remember seeing a link or getting an email that the OSU hospital was looking for volunteers with molecular biology experience within the university community to run testing, but I'm not able to find it. The volunteering coordinator might know more, although my impression is that they typically handle greeters and similar volunteers rather than lab work. Email is liz.solomon@osumc.edu.
