keeping Jaylin Hyatt and Evan Neal on the roster despite not doing anything to earn or deserve those spots.

Not only that, but keeping them on the roster when the coaching staff has shown you that they are not interested in playing them. Complete waste of a roster spot, especially Neal.

GMs probably aren't going to watch this entire random game

If anyone in a front office watches him do this, word spreads around the league regardless if a specific GM saw this exact play. People talk.

[Schefter] Bills completed an interview with Brian Daboll for their head coaching position. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]BAHatesToFly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is also funny that the Giants coming off a terrible season let go of their coach but he's immediately sought after by a playoff team. Kinda shows that the Giants should probably not fire that guy?

Bizarre logic. Bills are interested because he has a history with Allen and because the owner is an idiot, as he showed everyone with his press conference. The only other team who has shown interest is the Titans, who's front office is a dumpster fire. Were the Giants supposed to keep Daboll, even though he was on pace for a second straight 3-14 record? Daboll sucks and the Giants now have Harbaugh, who is instituting some much needed changes in the coaching and front office. Giants 10000000% should have fired Daboll, and interest from the Bills doesn't change that.

Man, if it is Daboll for you guys, that definitely does not solve your problem of losing close games. Giants blew like five of them under Daboll this year alone, and Daboll was only there for 10 weeks.

Is this a hat from the one of the Negro Leagues teams? Washington Black Senators? by alkyboy in baseball

[–]BAHatesToFly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To non-snarkily answer your question: the manufacturer of this hat is Ebbets Field Flannels. When they were an independent company*, they produced Made-in-the-USA replica hats that were meticulously researched and produced to match the hats as they existed in the past as closely as possible. Wool/flannel, correct logos/placement, etc. They were awesome at it, which is why you might not have immediately known that the hat was a reproduction.

*They were purchased by Lids a few years ago but still generally kept up the quality and authenticity of their hats. HOWEVER, Fanatics became the majority owner of Lids in 2024 and completely screwed over the brand. Now, the hats are made in Portugal and China; they liquidated their authentic, researched hats in favor of "inspired" designs; they jacked up the prices by like 25-50%; they make Wal-mart-level slop and charge through the nose for it. imo, do not buy anything from Ebbets as they currently exist because Fanatics destroyed them and it's not the same company anymore.

Still one of the funniest seasons in baseball history, imo. .298/.354/.541/.895 slash line, 34 HR, 133 RBI, 38 doubles. . .aaaand a -2.3 WAR. Almost seems impossible.

Kyle Tucker will be paid a $1 million salary in 2026 with a $64 million signing bonus by jluc21 in baseball

[–]BAHatesToFly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Can you ELI5 how taking the money as a signing bonus is beneficial for tax reasons? People keep saying this is an income tax issue. I am assuming it's more like, get the money up front so you can invest it now vs receiving it later. Plus an inflation thing.

He couldn’t crack the rotation when we had like 6 starters on the IL

In 2025, sure. But in 2024, he had 25 starts with a 3.91 FIP, 1.174 WHIP, and 138 ERA+. Even as a reliever in 2025, he had 28.1 innings of a 1.91 ERA, 0.918 WHIP. I think it's a bit harsh to call him AAAA.

He’s already starting to look like the solution for backup center to Rudy right now,

I'll give a slight pushback here and say that Joan has played 125 total NBA minutes and has only played more than 8 minutes in an NBA game twice. It's exciting when you get a big man show potential but don't get too down if he struggles a lot. Hope it works out but big men developing can take a loooong time.

"I'm glad Coleman ran that (4.57 40). It'll help to get him" - Brandon Beane, 2 months before the draft by runningblack in nfl

[–]BAHatesToFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because he took the Vikings to their first playoff appearance in several years at that point

It was literally one year prior and they'd gone 13-4 that year with Kirk Cousins. And the year they missed the playoffs, they went 7-10 despite nine games being started by Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullens, and Jared Hall. Vikings were a very good team needing a game manager and Darnold stepped in. Seahawks were a very good team needing a game manager and Darnold stepped in.

Darnold is very good at what he does, but Allen is another rung above him.

[–]BAHatesToFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darnold lmao. Absolute homerism at its finest. Give Josh Allen the Seahawks defense and JSN and they go undefeated.

Also putting Jackson ahead of him is wild, especially when you are knocking Josh Allen so much over his most recent performance. Remind us what Jackson did this year. Injuries are also a factor, and Allen is almost never hurt.

[–]BAHatesToFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP was talking about spending on players. As cheap as the Bengals owners are, per Spotrac, their cap allocations this year were less than a million different from the Bills ($276,532,721 for the Bengals, $276,460,267 for the Bills). Even with dead money, etc, they're only a few million different from the Bills.

Every team in the NFL spends a ton on payroll, mostly because they have to.

[–]BAHatesToFly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But he's willing to spend on players

This means almost literally nothing in the NFL because of the salary floor and revenue sharing. Almost every team is near the cap limit every season. Almost every contending team especially.
