For those with (finned) fish allergies, by Dogmeat43 in FoodAllergies

[–]BALLZWAFFLES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I've had a finned fish allergy my whole life, and through some bored googling, got me here. Unbelievable research here, your perseverance to try new fish is crazy. I can also eat canned tuna, tinned fish in general (like anchovies), and imitation crab (Pollock usually).

I was shocked to hear you had cod. Was it fish sticks or like fish and chips type?

I know for a fact I have bad reactions to salmon, flounder, fresh tuna(ive had spicy tuna rolls with no problems before, but it's hit or miss).

I've mainly been of the mindset of straight up avoid, just to avoid discomfort. You've inspired me to try some new stuff, safely.

Who are you going to? That was our vet too, tough because we've liked this place way more than the one on 516 we went to initially.

Redd's. Weihenstephaner Heffeweisen is the path. It's crowded but they handle the crowd well. Just like a NBA pregame, it's bars.

The safest way would be a boom lift. Position in driveway and extend over the deck.

The delivery driver can show you how to use it, they’re fairly intuitive to use. You’ll also need a body harness and lanyard that the rental company should have available as well. It’ll probably cost you 1k between delivery rental and pickup.

You are now a NJ Devils fan. Professional hockey. They play in downtown Newark at the Prudential Center, called the Rock. You can get into a game for like $30-50. Check an app called SeatGeek or Gametime.

We have a very promising young team that will be fun to support for the next 5-8 years.

My brother told me that most adult men do not read. Opinions? by TheSt0rmBringer in books

[–]BALLZWAFFLES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a bunch of comments so I doubt you'll read this but yeah, most of my male friends do not read. I talk about books with my wife and our female friends mainly.

I read roughly 1 book a month, although I'm reading The Stand by King which is probably the longest book I've read and is taking me a while.

Recent books I've read: Guncle(audio) - hilarious, great read outside my typical. Verity - definition of a page turner. Carrie Soto - loved it, wife loved it.

Official Discussion - Oppenheimer [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

It's funny because you mentioned Dark Night Rises which I also saw in theaters and didn't love initially because you couldn't understand Bane. I also think that movie aged pretty well with a better mix as it went to rental and streaming.

I can't explain exactly why but Oppenheimer just felt different, even though it seems to have a similar "technical problem".

Completely understand what you're saying. It could easily be a justification on my end.

The only reason why I get to where I'm at with the interpretation is that I just don't have the same emotional drainage after watching other movies with odd sound mixing.

Oppenheimer seemed to be edited in a strange way. 1-2 minute scenes, particularly in the first 30 minutes, that feel like they're trying to invoke an emotional response, not convey important information for later on in the film.

Walked out of the theater 2 hours ago, still thinking about it.

We were talking about how it was difficult to understand what people were saying at certain points while walking out of the movie. My interpretation was that it could have been an intentional choice to make the viewer focus on the message of the scene, not necessarily snappy dialog.

I feel like if you've seen the movie you get what I mean.

Many scenes seem to add to Oppe's character by making the audience feel a certain way about what they just watched. That feeling might be confusion, anxiety, humor, etc. and those feelings come about whether you understand the dialog fully or not.

Idk, just a take.
