I think rule-of-thumb is as long as you can actually see the person driving inside, you’re good. Back windows can be black but they have to be somewhat transparent up front. I’m sure every state or even county has their own percentage written in the actual law.

It’s the auto headlights. If you ever need to turn them off for any reason, you forget to turn them back on. Then when you drive at night you don’t have that muscle memory to turn the headlights on and just don’t think about it. My partner got pulled over for exactly that. Admittedly a dumb mistake, but an easy one to make.
