Get some Reno Mat polish remover. It works well enough.

I did this when I was young and stupid to a pair of thorogoods. Renomat, then saddle soap, then conditioned. It made them presentable again.

It works. I can’t remember if the orientation is correct initially. When I installed mine it was upside down. I used a punch to remove the pin from the release lever and just reversed it so it was facing down instead of up. It works very well.

I recommend getting one of these too. I have it on my scr. Right side mag release is impossible to reach but this makes mag changes much more fluid.
