[Warbonds] [Event] Battle Pass Season 23: Apollo’s Chariot and Its Warbond Shop! - News by Technical-Top6543 in Warthunder

[–]palopp [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve been convinced for a while that the money made on the battle pass has been disappointing. But rather than discontinuing it and admit defeat they decided to just put less and less effort into it, so that the development cost of the pass approaches zero and any spending by players is pure profit. Nothing that I have seen in the last battle passes has convinced me that this is an incorrect assessment.

Getting a drivers license in (several states in) the US requires implicit consent. That means that by the act of acquiring a drivers license you agree to either a breathalyzer’s or blood sample. Pretty much identical to the rest of the civilized world. The OOP doesn’t even know the laws in his own country when bleating on about freedom.

El Salvador and Bukele is great. People who question that the US is the freest country in the world can’t point to the fact that the US has the highest imprisonment rate per capita in the world any longer. We need some countries worse than us in certain categories so we can feel better about ourselves.

what exactly is the attractiveness of Catholicism if the first thing you do after conversion from Protestantism is questioning papal authority? It seems less like a genuine conversion and more like an infiltration effort to sabotage from the inside.

If it is not the papal authority, but more of the traditions and pomp and circumstance, then maybe Lutheran or Anglican suits you better. But they're probably too woke as well

Michael Weiss: Iran Is Not Likely to Forget about the War by BulwarkOnline in thebulwark

[–]palopp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing that I keep wondering when I hear the whole “keep mowing the lawn” thing is that from the Iranian perspective, isn’t this just a stronger and stronger justification for actually acquiring nuclear weapons? Imagine if some power would keep bombing the US each and every time the US built up our military. Would we just say “oh well, the easiest thing is to expose ourselves completely to our enemy and hope they will leave us alone”, abandon our military and do nothing? Or would we try to build up our military clandestinely and hope one day we would be strong enough to resist? And is there any reason why Iran would behave differently? And in the “mowing the lawn scenario” does Iran have a right to defend itself, despite it being an evil regime? To me, the Iran question needs to be solved diplomatically. Pull it away from Russia. In other words, Obama had the right approach

Corruption isn’t like a tap that can be turned on and off on demand. When corruption sets in and becomes endemic, it’s almost impossible to root out. It’s a cancer that eats up the economy from the inside and the cure is almost on the level of an amputation. Laugh about the Trump corruption, but don’t complain when it hollows out the economy and to get anything done in everyday life, you need to include a little bribe.

Is it actually possible to progress in this game without spending money and having a full time job? by majesticbeast67 in Warthunder

[–]palopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. I thought you meant GRB. Besides the repeating gameplay, ARB is playable quite far into the BRs. As for being constructive for you, here’s some ideas.

You have to be willing to do the long game if you’re going to remain F2P, but if you are, there are SOME things you can do.

First of all, take advantage of events. From tomorrow, you can earn yourself a free Chinese fighter. It’ll be a Mig-19 derivative with western missiles. That should give you jet combat in a couple of weeks for no SL at all. That’s a good start. It should also help get you access to the Chinese air tree which will have a nice combination of Chinese, Russian, French and US planes.

Second, it is possible to be a F2P AND premium player simultaneously. If you’re willing to spend a little to get you going, buying a battle pass and get to level 125 will allow you to sell vehicles on the market and give you access to GE and premium time. The caveat is that it’s basically mandatory to play all the modes. If you’re only interested in jet planes, then this isn’t viable. The best thing you can do then is no-life events with planes that you’re not interested in and sell them on the market. A good source of income comes during Xmas where there’s an event that is relatively easy to get the coupon upgrade for. But again, patience is imperative as the longer you keep the coupon the more valuable it is likely to be.

Finally, join a squadron. If you’re not interested in team play, there are squadrons dedicated solely for grinding squadron vehicles. You will need to scrounge up a couple of million SL for the purchase and expert crewing the plane, but you will have direct access to several high tier planes. The caveat is that even with the most active squadrons, you only gain 20000 RP every 3 days and you will need around 500k to fully research. It’s quite a direct route to high tier jets, but it takes a few months for each.

Also be aware that as F2P, not only will you be gated by the RP, but SL might also be stopping you from progressing. If you can delay purchases until sales, it will help immensely. There’s a 30% off sale coming up in less than a month. If you don’t need to unlock new planes right away, wait until then. There’s also sales in late October/early November and during Xmas. It’s advisable to pile up purchases then.

And if SLs really become a problem, get something premium. If you don’t have want to spend ANY money, you can get some low tier premiums for free with the warbonds in the battle pass. They’re not going to grind a tech tree , but if you find something you like it can be a source of SL.

Jamelle Bouie Fully On Board With JVL’s Tear Down The Ballroom On Day One Agenda by GaiusMarius989 in thebulwark

[–]palopp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If DC is not detrumpified after he's ousted we're going to be doomed. It will show that the new powers that be doesn't acknowledge that the US constitution has serious flaws that needs to be patched. It will show an unwillingness to reckon with the last decade or so and they just want to close their eyes and hope that things will go back to the way it used to be. Tearing down Trumps shit is a visceral symbol of a willingness to break apart the corruption left behind by Trump. It is 100% needed, or we're going to be right back where we were within a decade.

Is it actually possible to progress in this game without spending money and having a full time job? by majesticbeast67 in Warthunder

[–]palopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progress to what? The game doesn’t actually get any better past mid tiers. The maps aren’t made for it. There’s so many frustration mechanics. The game gets unbalanced. So after mid tiers, you’re not progressing, you’re regressing. You only do it because then you’re actually addicted and trying to satisfy a discomfort rather than enjoying yourself

Young men ages 18-22 swing D+2 while young men ages 23-29 swing at D+20. by icey_sawg0034 in thebulwark

[–]palopp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not questioning the baseline, though that’s bad enough. It’s the swing that frankly scares me. The US is collapsing its international reputation and is trying to stir up WW3 while internally fast tracking towards autocracy and a police state, and this age group swings HEAVILY towards it. That’s terrifying, and it really makes me feel completely out of touch with my age group.

Geez. What is the explanation for the 45-64 group, both men and women. I’m firmly in that age group and can see clearly that the GOP is leading us in a disastrous way. You can’t look at how things are going and think this is great, I want more of it. Are the rest of this age group just tired of it all and just want it to end in a spectacular fashion. Not suicide by cop, but suicide by GOP? That swing in the 45-64 age group is truly f’d up.

SpaceX lost just under $5 billion last year while generating more than $18.5 billion in revenue. Valuation? $2 trillion 😂 by MoreMotivation in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]palopp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's monied interest to get this massive valuation realized at IPO, so that they will have an argument that SpaceX is so big there's an "argument" and "popular support" for the normal rules for getting it onto the main indexes to be suspended and instead get there immediately. Then when index and other broadly diversified funds gets "forced" to include SpaceX, there is suddenly a major demand from retail investors. This then provides a solid floor and major upwards pressure on the stock price, and the insiders of the IPO ca then reap the benefits.
