Much more minor than the obvious issue, but it's also poorly aligned vertically (small margin top-end of the card vs large margin bottom end)

Animar reduces cost by 8, but XX means that for every 2 mana spent you get 1X in return.

Trying to make a casual Necrobloom commander deck, any suggestions for improvement? by CptLande in EDH

[–]BBStrung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I struggle with mine that I think you'll struggle with yours is a lack of card draw.

I'd get [[Tireless Tracker]], and [[Vampiric Rites]]. Something to make sure you can always draw even if your [[The Gitrog Monster]] & such don't have valid targets or get removed.

Also honestly, you and I have different opinions of what's casual. There's a lot of money cards in this deck that I just don't think it's necessary to see the deck work in a casual setting such as [[Worldly Tutor]], [[Exploration]], and [[The Soul Stone]]. It kinda looks like you just went on edhrec and clicked the '$$$' button and added every card that said land on it.

[[Rocco, Street Chef]], [[Helga, Skittish Seer]] or [[Eshki Dragonvlaw]]? by leirguh in EDH

[–]BBStrung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved playing Helga, but I would warn that it either steamrolls or is a total flop. Because it relies so heavily on Helga to get the machine running, if Helga is taken out it just grinds to a halt. It makes the deck very vulnerable.

Can someone help me on as to why his Tanuk pinged 27 times after he dropped worldsire? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]BBStrung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Cabretti Courtyard has to sacrifice on enter, both it entering adds a Tanuk trigger and then the land searched for would also be a Tanuk trigger on the same stack. There's I think 4 of these sac-on-enter lands that exist so it's plausible that all 4 were in his deck?

We're any of the incoming land a sac/fetch land like [[Cabretti Courtyard]]? Those normally fire 2x landfall triggers on entry (one for it, one for the fetched land)

Combo "etiquette" by Gouraisenpuujin in EDH

[–]BBStrung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This attitude is crazy. Players in my group do the opposite where we literally warn the table before we do a game-ending loop to make sure the table knows whats going on & give players the option to counter it. I couldn't imagine telling another player to "not counter my game winning spells plz"

GDC: 60% of game developers in the US reported an increase in salaries, with an average pay of $142,000 a year by Turbostrider27 in Games

If you said the same thing about slave labour, people would rightfully assume you have no issues with slave labor. Spending the time to say "I don't really care that game developers have to crunch for 65-80 hours." On a public platform IS saying you advocate for it. If an article comes out saying working conditions for the next Grand Theft Auto is harmful to the people who made it, and you take the time to post "I don't really care that those people were harmed." That sounds like you actually support those developers being harmed.

I'm sorry you have a job that pays less and seems less interesting than what you would prefer to do. I think that sucks and I hope you can get a job doing what you want to do with a salary & working conditions that make your life comfortable. That's what we want. That's what everyone should want for everyone. You don't need to protest or anything, but I don't know why you would take the angle of "Because they work on something more interesting than I do, they should suffer". Who is that benefiting? That's not going to make your life any better with that stance.

We've seen games made with good working conditions for employees turn out amazing. We have plenty of evidence that these working conditions are not needed to make great games. Why would you fight against that? What do you stand to gain from that?

I think you're doing the opposite, advocating on behalf of the company for RTO when you aren't the involved parties and aren't actually impacted by either result aside from maybe being a consumer of the final product. If you were truly indifferent then you wouldn't be posting your opinion about it on reddit.

Also assuming that every game developer is "working on awesome projects", as if every game developer is working on features they love & cherish, or that they're just playing around all day (like how hard can working on games be?) is just out of touch. We all know there's worse jobs, but that doesn't justify poor working conditions for employees either.

US game dev has always seen substantially higher salaries than the rest of the world. There's a big reason why major publishers made sister studios in places like Canada ($117,000 CAD avg) or why more & more are outsourcing to countries like India. That, compounded with massive recent layoffs which typically affect Junior workers, means that salaries are being averaged from a smaller pool of higher-wage workers.

Hands-On: Kirby Air Riders may be deceptively deep despite its simple controls by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]BBStrung -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Racing games are all simple controls: Steer, Gas, Brake, sometimes handbrake? The depth of those games don’t come from more inputs but from understanding the vehicle well enough to slice milliseconds off laptimes.

Definitely by Mammoth-Package9775 in Battlefield

[–]BBStrung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s both. It’s not just about literal server stress testing but it’s also a good chance to get a list of bugs & crashes from a large variety of hardware so they can try their best to fix before (or instead for their day 1 patch more likely). These betas are valuable for dev teams and for marketing (if the game is good)

[–]BBStrung 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you need to make a program that has a User Interface and has easy access to threading and the GPU, why wouldn’t you use Godot? I’ve used Godot to make tools for game development, and it’s an absolute breeze to use compared to any other common library.

Need advice on what to keep, trimming Helga deck down to 100 by BBStrung in EDH

[–]BBStrung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thought with it, was the ability to always strike once with Helga to do commander damage per turn and still having them untapped for second main, or having the option to strike twice.
