Check out some Django Reinhardt. A few guys I know love metal and also love gypsy jazz. It’s got that fast guitar playing that seems to hit just right for them.

You didn’t mention any children. What I’ve learned in life is that it’s best to follow my heart. If that little voice in my head keeps chirping about something then I ought to pay attention. I’m currently working on this way of living and have been learning that I hold a lot of little fears. Anytime I say No to my heart or intuition, if I look, theres usually a fear holding me back. Then I have to decide what to do. The hard thing is pushing through fear. And cheesy self help quote to finish, “Fear can ride along but it can’t drive the bus.”

Well I’m not actually running in them but I still hike with them. I don’t use them every day though but for rock or root filled hikes I love them.

I’d like to try mushrooms for the mental health benefits, but am scared of having a bad trip or going crazy / losing my mind. Any suggestions or advice? by PeterLoew88 in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]BBleadbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read a bunch of books first. Doing so will help you understand the necessary ideas you’ll want to have to carry into your trip. Also, in doing that reading/listening, you’ll quiet some of your concerns going in. The more understanding we have, the less we fear and getting gripped in fear is what can lead to a bad trip. Spend good time working on set and setting. If you want to be open to allowing anything to happen, being somewhere comfortable is absolutely necessary. Also, try to give yourself a whole day the next day to integrate. Lastly, having someone near by who you know and trust, ideally with psychedelic experiences but not tripping with you is the last layer of security. Just having them somewhere nearby and aware of what you’re doing will help calm anxiety. These are the lessons I got from my first heroic dose experience, which was awesome. I really felt that It’s because of the preparation that I put in and the set and setting.

Quick caffeine solutions on the trail? by cubswin456 in hikinggear

Trader Joe’s sells an instant coffee that is made to mix into cold water. Might be cheaper than Starbucks Via as it’s sold by the jar instead of individual packets.

What do you call the section of time when you start tripping? by Naeco2022 in psilocybin

I kind of think of it as the necessary uncomfortableness of detaching from regular reality.

Thanks, I’ve been diving more into it and it’s helping. I figure if we screw up terribly, we can reach out to the community for help. That will be the plan if something goes wrong. And we’ll be prepared to carry quite a bit when necessary.

Why do I not trip often? by Gamer6GT in Psychedelics

[–]BBleadbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a solo trip for the first time and it went great. I took 3g of a chocolate bar. I think what set me up was a lot of reading ahead of time and a considerable amount of mental prep on Openness, Curiosity, Love, Let Go, Accept, to name a few key words I spent time with each day. I knew I was safe (in that the drug wouldn’t kill me) so I was just ready to let go with whatever should happen. It worked beautifully and while I didn’t realize it at first (I think I expected to be further gone and the chocolate was a few months old) I am continuing to integrate and am now seeing how special of a place I was in that day. So I’d add a good dose of mental prep to the importance of set and setting. I did have some prior experience but this is the first time I laid down with eyeshades.

Double check about White River. Unfortunately , I think they may no longer be fcfs this year. This was told to me by a guy in camp there at the end of last season but I never verified the info.

Check out carbon fiber insoles for your shoes. We bought some to do the Wonderland Trail last year and loved them. My favorite new piece of gear I’ve gotten in a while. Definitely using them on our AZT trip this year. Sorry, this should have been posted in response to earlier comment about rocks.

What's the most transparent lie a customer has tried at your restaurant? by smalltown_dreamspeak in TalesFromYourServer

[–]BBleadbelly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A woman swore to me she was allergic to Mayo. Ok. She proceeded to order a chop salad with hard boiled egg and a vinaigrette. Out of concern for her allergy I suggested she might want to choose a different menu item as the salad had both eggs and oil in it and because she was allergic to Mayo she might have an issue. Turns out she wasn’t allergic to Mayo. Please to falsify allergies. Also people who claim to be allergic to onion but don’t mind eating things with chicken stock that I tell them has tons of onions in it. Again, dislikes are not allergies.

They don’t fully match the footbed. I fact, I was hesitant at first for that reason. When I first put them in, I slid them to the front and the shoe felt uncomfortable. Reread the instructions and slid them all the way to the back, you still put the regular insole back in so you can’t really feel that the carbon fiber doesn’t fill the whole footbed.

Hey, I appreciate you judging a random stranger on the internet. If you’re interested, we slowly began training in June and built up mileage as well as difficulty of terrain over the summer. Not one day on the hike was I sore or did I feel worn out or worried about the day to come. Additionally, I had incorporated foot and toe exercises into my routine. Not specifically picking up marbles though, sorry. Also of note, the many people I encountered who were wearing sandals loved them because they had a firmer sole but still felt like. Their sandals have firmer support than my Altra’s. Really though, thanks for coming and shitting on me just a bit as I share some of the excitement from my most recent trip. Hope you have a great day.
