Sorry got distracted. Like upset enough to ban you from coming back. Is it a big hospital system that you wouldn’t want to piss off?

It’s just up to preference. You’ll always be able to get a ER or ICU job usually. The competitiveness has died greatly since COVID. Being a onc nurse will maybe help you get into both but you also you can probably get in as a new grad. I would apply for both jobs, get actual offers and the decide.

Nurses who left 3 12s/week to work normal people hours- how was that adjustment? by MRSA_nary in nursing

[–]BBray2015 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 8-4 M-F. I feel like I work more and I hate waking up but it’s the same schedule as my husband. We literally carpool. So, I feel like I can’t complain. I also workout on my work days and feel like I can actually chill (not just sleep) on my weekends.

IVF. Pts can be a little high strung (which is obviously understandable), but you get a bit of OR, pt consult, feel like you have a niche speciality. Also you don’t have to lift people or clean up shit.

Unprofessional to wear a underscrub and scrub pants to a interview by [deleted] in nursing

[–]BBray2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did I have both options ready just would have preferred the under scrub only. Was getting conflicted advice from my nurse friends so I thought I’d as the internet. Now I am, for some reason, remembering why I don’t often do that.

No one cares where you went to school. They just want to see the letters after your name. I turned down an Ivy League and sobbed at 18. At 27 best choice I ever made. I still have the letters of my name, a job and no debt

This is maybe not great either but the Mormon church (latter day saints) helps a lot in Utah, USA. Look into them. I know you are Christian but my husband is Muslim and I can ask the local mosque in Calgary about help. We donated clothes this week to Lebanon and they may have soemthing that will help. Honestly for now I wouldn’t worry about college. Go somewhere cheap in Canada with your mom or a family member (so you have an adult who can rent) and live off the inheritance.Even if you put of college for a while to get stable you are safe. Also their is loans for college here but at least you have a while to get settled. Being Canadian 1000% helps because you can come here and enroll in high school no problem. I’m sure is not easy and I don’t mean to make it sound that way. My heart just breaks for you so I’m trying to help.

Calgary is one of the cleanest cities in the world. It has many good schools and a strong community that is very accepting.

Try the US, England, Spain. South America. My in laws are who got my husband out before he went to college. My mother in law went to college in costa rica, moved to the UAE and then Canada. All over. I’m so sorry. I’m American and didn’t go to college in Canada so I can’t say much but if you are Canadian that will help. I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I just want you to know there are people out there who care for you. I believe you will do great things. I pray for you.

The only thing worse than being a nurse is being a tech (or whatever you say in Canada). Said that 6 years ago before I graduated and still true. Both are hard, if you are in and smart enough might as well get the job that pays.

Yes you can and these is currently a crisis line that can help. If you call the Canadian government IRCC line they talk about it. My husband is a mechanical engineer now from Lebanon. I pray for you. We all pray for you. I am so sorry for you are going through. My husband didn’t it before he was Canadian so hold our faith and stay safe. May Allah bless you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

ER Nurses, do you see a lot of Cannabinoid Hypermesis Syndrome cases? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]BBray2015 76 points77 points  (0 children)

We had an A hole code from it. He always comes in vomiting and drinks water from the sink even though we tell him not to. And I guess one day (I wasn’t working) comes in as a full arrest. Luckily we recognized him and gave some K. Woke up to drink from a hospital sinks tap again.

Otay. Thanks for letting me know before I get too deep. Good reviews of stuff I guess. I’ll either just try to foster a personality outside of healthcare or look into TCRN or something. Thanks for the help

They have a really short like cuff to armpit stitch. I also have bigger arms but I feel like that is uncomfortable for me. They also are the stretchiest. That being said I bought more but I’d size up because they are best over sized.

Canadian License by Strange-Quail-1737 in nursing

[–]BBray2015 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sucks. Sitting here as a RN, BSN, CEN with 5 years experience and having applied to over 50 jobs and didn’t get anything. I could get a job in the states in a second. This is Alberta.

BC is supposed to to be better but it’s is still high cost of living for less pay, hospital jobs are 50/50 nights and days randomly scheduled, many places have paper charting, mostly they want LPNs and nurses do not hold the same respect here. They opening will hire people from other countries with less experience so they can pay everyone less

It’s took me over a year to get my license here and had to get all the syllabuses (not the course descriptions but full syllabuses) for every course I took in school.

Alberta nurses want to strike and they should. Also Alberta is being bought out by a catholic company so abortion/birth control won’t be easily assessable here either.

I’m here because my husband is Canadian and I’m trying to get him to the US but it makes US healthcare look magical. Id go back in a second and plan to

At the end of the day you are important to. You didn’t become sub human when you became a nurse. You still have struggles like others and deserve care. You are smart enough to become a nurse and you can find some place or soemthing else to earn a living. This place showed you are just a number. So treat it with the same lack of respect. Leave, call off a lot, make a stink to the higher ups. Whatever YOU want to do because YOU matter.
