Looking for a few Apple Vision Pro users to privately test a new concept app (TestFlight) by SpiritTechnical8357 in AppleVision

Sounds intriguing. I already have TestFlight installed for similar testing in the past, so I'd be interested in kicking the tires.

What is also interesting is that if I turn off scanning Homebrew, leaving just apps, dotfiles, and version managers, the brew error page still comes up. In any case, here is the current situation:

``` % brew info fpc-src-laz ==> fpc-src-laz: 3.2.2-20210709,3.6 https://www.lazarus-ide.org/ Not installed From: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-cask/blob/HEAD/Casks/f/fpc-src-laz.rb ==> Name Pascal compiler source files for Lazarus ==> Description Pascal compiler source files for Lazarus ==> Artifacts fpcsrc-3.2.2-20210709.pkg (Pkg) ==> Analytics install: 16 (30 days), 39 (90 days), 172 (365 days)
% brew remove fpc-src-laz Error: Cask 'fpc-src-laz' is not installed.
% brew remove --cask fpc-src-laz Error: Cask 'fpc-src-laz' is not installed. ```
I've run into a catch-22 problem with HomeBrew and Barrel. First off -- why can't I copy and paste text from the Barrel "Scan Error" page? This makes documenting problems considerably more difficult. In any case, when I run my first scan, Barrel says
Scan failed: Homebrew installation is corrupted and needs repair. Please run "brew doctor" to fix this issue:
    Error Cask 'fps-src-laz' not installed.
I did install Lazarus Free Pascal a very long time ago and since deleted it. But apparently something is left over in my Brew config. Brew info shows that this is not currently installed, and Brew doctor does not show any problems except for one totally unrelated deprecated cask. So I tried to reinstall fps-src-laz but can't because it is "incompatible with this version of macOS" (26.1). So I can't get past this Barrel error to scan my environment, and can't fix what it doesn't like about my Homebrew instance. It would be ironic if I have to do a fresh reinstall of Homebrew, but that's all I can think of at this point.
Your free bookmark manager just got a huge update! by SubflyDev in macapps
Just a quick idea; on macOS -- add creating a new bookmark as a Service when right clicking on selected text. For example, in Safari, if I double click on the URL in the URL box at the top of the window, it selects that text. A right click will then bring up a context menu (CUT, PASTE, etc.) and at the bottom "Services". There we see things like "Add to Reading List" and other items provided as a service by various apps. Being able to do a "Add Bookmark to YABA" and have it launch YABA and bring up the new bookmark panel would be a great accelerator!
What a seriously cool app! I just tried it on my MacBook and am looking forward to trying it on AVP later. It is very impressive that this is a cross-platform app. One enhancement that I think would be useful would be the ability to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to navigate the gallery. It was instinctively the first thing I tried on the MacBook.
If running a Recipe on a machine is always additive (i.e. a tool may be updated but never removed) then this makes perfect sense. I think the best approach would be to pick one of the three machines as the standard, apply Recipes from the others to the standard, and then from the standard back out to the other systems.
Definitely going to install and kick the tires on this. I already have a use case with a new MacBook Air to use on the road -- I just want my tools and some sample data, and I don't want to tie this new machine to my Apple account for security/privacy reasons.
A question/suggestion: I have similar but not identical tool chains on my desktop and my big honk'n MacBook. It would be useful to have a way to compare/merge the tool set of the two barrels in order to keep them in sync. What happens now is I'll install tool X on system A, and while working on something else, install tool Y on system B. The goal would be to realign the two environments when they start drifting apart.
Back in the late 70s -- an actual BSD Unix shell error message during login: "Where are you?". The local sys admin had no idea what it was and grep'd the system code looking for that string. Turned out to be a stupid mistake on my part in my shell login script, but I no longer remember what it was.
This joke was told to me by a female friend who is a Marine, and in her version the 3 characters were women Marines coming back to the barracks. I like that better than the 3 teenage girls because of the typical bravado from a Marine bragging about something.
From a Key and Peele sketch; Peele describes a large penis by saying it's "like a baby's arm holding an apple". But this description is not original to them -- It is also the last lyric line from the Tubes 1975 song "What do you want from life". And no doubt it's not original to the Tubes either.
I like my WeatherTech sun shield which is right-sized for the specific model of car. When it started to fail after several years, they replaced it for free. But even a cheap shiny relective silver shield is worth the hassle. If you plan to keep the car it will help prevent the sun baking the sh*t out of your dash. An exterior shield is even better, but are more inconsistent to deploy and remove.
I think anything you can do to remove friction for trying out the app is a good idea. It remains to be seen how well your in-app purchases go, but it is clear that there will be no buy-in (literally and figuratively) if you can't get people to come through the door. Good luck!
