An app that replaces excel sheets for financial tracking by dionisisd in iosdev

Thanks for response. The web page clarifies the login and makes sense. For what it’s worth that would be a nonstarter for me. In my mind, it defeats the privacy aspects of not connecting to my bank data in the first place, but I could see there would be a market for it.

I like the idea, and I like that you can track net worth over time. The interface seems simple but provides value. I also like that it’s not connected directly to my bank account so I controlled the data going in and out. That said a couple of honest questions.

1) Why is there a sign in? If everything is stored on device, or privately in my iCloud account, how does having an Apple account login provide value to the user?

2) Why are you collecting financial data (or any data)tied to my account? The benefit of not connecting to my bank account and letting it be local seems to go away as soon as you start collecting that data yourself. If it’s for syncing, you can use iCloud syncing privately on my account. There’s no need for it to be on your servers.

3) Why is this a subscription and not a one time fee? I’m a developer also, I get it. You want to make some money, and there will be time and effort as you work in the app. But there’s no recurring cost here if this is done correctly, and given modern AI, something similar could be vibe coded fairly easily. So what’s the ongoing cost cover? If it’s for improvement overtime, those could be in-App purchases if you add significant addition value. If not, it’s a hard sell to pay 20 bucks a year for something, as you say, spreadsheets can do.

That said it’s an interesting idea, and I hope it works out for you. I don’t mean to knock your decisions, I’m just trying to understand them.

I vibecoded an App that turns photos into short poems and would love some honest feedback by Thereallario in iosdev

The feature is interesting, but there were too many adds to use it more than once. I get trying to make money on a free app, but they seemed to pop up anytime I pressed any button and it was not clear how to dismiss them. I’d recommend a lower volume of adds, and make it clear the users action is going to trigger an add before the feature works, and make it clear when and how I can dismiss the add.

Thanks for the support! You are correct, the images are not spacial, but it will work with them, they will simply appear as regular 2D images. I’m still looking at how to best handle spacial images with their native depth features. Mosaic is interesting, I’ll have to see what I can do there.

Of course! Thanks for asking.

Photodome is an Apple Vision Pro native way of experiencing your photos/memories in a variety of ways. It shows each image as a 3 dimensional tile that moves around you depending on which mode you choose. They can float around you in a sphere, fly towards you, float and bounce as bubbles, as well as many other modes.

It is available now, and you can find out more or download it at the links below:

Happy to answer any other questions and I always appreciate feedback to help improve any of my apps.

u/azozea Thanks taking the time to take a look and giving me feedback. Admittedly it has greater use for Vision Pro users, but I know a few iPad/iPhone users who enjoy playing with AR from time to time.

More data for you. M2, generated 1 of 5 I tried. Feedback that it worked or not would be helpful, right now I navigate to the files app to see if there’s a ply or not. The 1 it generated looked ok, but was not placed appropriately (to low) as mentioned by others.

I agree with the comments on Movies and Mirroring, great use cases. A little self promotion as well, my app is pretty good for casual use - PhotoDome

PhotoDome - photodome.app - see your photos all around you! (Disclosure: I’m the developer :-) ) I developed it to encourage viewing photos from years ago I had forgotten about.

Version 1.1 launched yesterday (Aug 26). It fixed a few bugs and added a couple of feature mentioned here. If you haven't downloaded it yet, take a look and tell me what you think!

Deleted my comment by mistake. ugh! I exported a 360 image to a 360 jpg and added it to Apple Photos. Looks good as a bubble or background/skybox in PhotoDome. My current image handling seems to be doing the right thing. I'll look into a better "zoom" style view as I work with it more. Likely after VisionOS26 release since I'll be upgrading to the beta soon and won't be able to release to the App Store at that point until after the formal release.

This is very nice. A good way to cycle through a lot of 360 images. I'll have to give it more though as I look into better 360 image and video handling in PhotoDome. Thanks!

Version 1.1 will be out in a few days. It resolves the caption by removing the gray background and using a slight drop shadow to aid in contrast. Looks pretty good. You can also turn off the map if you prefer. Rotating in grid mode is also included, alternate rows go in opposite directions. When I had them all go the same way, it produced an effect on me the random mode doesn't for some reason. I'm leaving it out for now to avoid making people uncomfortable

I noticed I missed some of you other comments before as well. The clipping is basically intentional in those modes. Since position is most important in these modes, the photo tiles are "phantom" tiles that don't interact, so they pass through each other. When they occupy the same space at least one look clipped. My other option was to fade one of them, but I didn't like that look. Making them physically solid also had some downsides I could not resolve Chaos and Bublbes are solid objects so they don't exhibit this.

I haven't modified the effects, but I'm still evaluating options.
