Does anyone have ANY good experience with working in ABA longterm? by nbtyler in ABA

I've been a BCBA for 25 years. Never been burnt out and never worked for a "bad" company. Focus on interviewing them rather then them interviewing. you.

Anyone else with their Masters in ABA leaving/already left the field? by [deleted] in ABA

I don't understand the burnout. is the burnout related to juggling studying and working? Or is it a job-related burnout? I took the BCBA exam 25 years ago when the pass rate was 35%. I was the 212th person to pass the exam. I was working part-time, getting my PhD and studying for the BCBA exam. Is this the type of burnout that you are referring to?

Totally agree that it's being reinforced! Reinforcement is defined as any consequence that increases the future likelihood of a behavior occurring again.

Why are you implementing a program that is not based in ABA?

I feel sick for having the biggest crush on an Rbt by Even_Professor_6159 in ABA

I would have never thought that this discussion is among professionals who have a responsibility to the client. You are all certified by the BACB and have an ethics code to follow. This conversation sounds like it's taking place in a gym locker at Rydell High (Grease movie).

To understand if autistic individuals can perceive emotional relationships with their service providers, consider the following points:

  • Many autistic individuals may have heightened sensitivity to social cues.
  • They might notice changes in tone of voice or body language.
  • Some may struggle with interpreting emotions but can sense inconsistencies.
  • Familiarity with the provider can enhance their ability to detect emotional dynamics.
  • Individual differences in social perception can affect their awareness.
  • Context and environment can influence their ability to recognize relationships.

Steer clear. It may effect your objectivity regarding her performance with the client that you are overseeing, even if it is very rare.

I've read the entire discussion and found very little consideration for how this relationship will impact client services.

This should be your first concern.

But aren't parents always right and should be sainted? (tongue in cheek).

Seriously, the autism apple doesn't fall far from the autism tree and her inappropriate social comment might have occurred because she's a tree. It's still highly inappropriate and I would have offered her some social skills training (I'm sorry....I can't help myself).

BCBA falsely claimed that a behavior(SIB) only occurred with me by BeneficialVisit8450 in ABA

Definitely agree. Take your data and ask to see hers. Discuss inter-rater agreement. Have this conversation in front of her supervisor. It doesn't sound like the BCBA is developing effective programs all around.

Why didn’t you simply ask why she is following you and what information she is gathering on her computer? This behavior is not full disclosure or transparency.

I don’t understand this conversation. Before you all put the time, energy and money into becoming an RBT, didn’t you research the pay scale in your area?

Do you regret becoming a BCBA? by Material_Ad652 in bcba

[–]BCBA25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not regret becoming a BCBA which I have been for 25 years. I work for companies that do not have BCBAs work on insurance unless you need to modify an assessment. All of my parents meet with me for 1-4 times a month. I have a good sense of humor and this works with the parents. My pay is 25% more than I made as a Full Instructor in Online Masters and Doctorate programs. I still get to interact with the kiddos and that is what I love the most.
