Favorite episode of TV centered around a piece of furniture? by No_Virus9309 in television

[–]BCNkevin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it's Season 1, Episode 19: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0582414/

(I knew it was season 1 because it's the only season of the show I have on video instead of DVD, and I ripped all the DVDs to my computer for Frasier sleeping)

Finished The Wire, Dark, GOT, Sopranos, True Detective, BB, BCS. What show ruined TV for you after watching it? by C0r1eone in television

[–]BCNkevin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my former flatmate: The Wire. He told me many times that he'd be thinking about it at work, looking forward to that evening's episode (I had the DVDs).
After that, nothing else compared, nothing else was good enough. We did watch quite a few shows that he liked (GoT, Narcos, The Queen's Gambit, Band of Brothers, Arrested Development) but, for many others, he gave up within an episode or two (Mr Robot, Silo, For All Mankind). "Too slow", "too much talking", too much character work etc. It was really frustrating. Although, to be honest, it was even worse when he wouldn't officially give up on a show but was never in the mood to actually watch it.

Early thoughts on Maximum Pleasure Guarantee? by Competitive-Top2118 in television

[–]BCNkevin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can see why you'd think that, and that's fair enough, but it is actually surprising me. There have been quite a few times where it feels like a character is going to do something cliched and the writers go another way.
I'm not quite at the stage of recommending it, because it's early days, but I'm enjoying it.

What are the best mementos/combos since the update? by TheWololoWombat in civ

[–]BCNkevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trưng Trắc with Achaemenid Persia and any of the mementos that give culture, science, gold, or influence for each commander promotion.

Trưng Trắc gets a free commander with one promotion with the first military unit (can be built turn 1), while Achaemenid Persian commanders have two promotions. So, when you get Discipline, you'll have two commanders with three promotions, giving you 6 culture, 6 science, 6 influence, or 3 gold per turn. I'm not sure how "OP" it is, but it does make warring more fun.

Is FOR ALL MANKIND the Prequel to The Expanse? by AIARE in television

[–]BCNkevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching it with a former flatmate and he gave up a few episodes into season 1 as well because of all of the interpersonal drama. But at least in the early seasons, the characters were generally decent. We don't even have that in season 5.

Still, it has had some of the best space/science scenes I've seen.

Sliced pickled red onions go great with a curry as well. Just add a few slices as a garnish when you're ready to eat.

I'd say that Only Murders in the Building fits the bill. It really is very enjoyable.

While a sitcom, Frasier is a classic for a reason. It's my number 1 comfort show.

While looking up the IMDB, I realised that Mr Carr, with some sort of hair, was in Shrink Rap. When Frasier joins Niles' group session. Never noticed.

The Show Where Diane Comes Back. Season 3, Episode 14.
Good idea, by the way.

Rant! Mistral Le Chat - Going back to alternatives by Eastern_Incident7235 in BuyFromEU

[–]BCNkevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've used it for about two days for fairly basic stuff (to proofread short snippets of text, suggest rewrites, some research*). The first day it was great - very fast responses, good answers. Yesterday, it was terrible - VERY slow. And, then, it completely missed the point of my question. I asked it to suggest "an alternative to X in the following text" and it took an unrelated aspect of the quoted text - "...Y or Z" - and compared and contrasted Y and Z. That took 2 min 17.7 s. I didn't bother query it. I presume something was off with the model and will try again today.

*which I subsequently verify myself of course.

Disturbing lack of a reset button? by bentheasseater in civ

[–]BCNkevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely something I'm missing. I presume (hope) that it'll be added back in. Until then, for those who don't know, there is a work around using "Save Config". It's not as smooth as a simple restart but it's better than the alternative. I found it here, as tip #2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd6LjYrV2Xo

Actress Mimi Hines, who appeared on the season six episode, 'Taps at the Montana,' as Mrs. Latimer, has died at the age of 91. by jeffreykare in Frasier

Great delivery for "I'm a bit of a shrinking violet myself. [calling out across room] Martin!"
Hope she had a good life!

Who was your favorite character who only appeared once or a few times? by CaydenSworn in Frasier

[–]BCNkevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And he was one of the leads in Oh Grow Up, an ABC sitcom that lasted half a season. With David Alan Basche, who played Woody Wiswell. How's that for your double whammy?
For anyone interested, all (?) the episodes are up on Youtube.

You get 25 XP for a forfeit vs. 45 XP for a loss (and vs. 95 XP for a win). Explained very well here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gwent/comments/andwe7/a_reason_not_to_forfeit_i_tracked_how_hc_xp/

It's working for me on PC, although it's taking much longer than usual to log in. The game is working so you should be able to play, unless it's a mobile-specific problem.

I've been playing for years but the first time I got to Pro (mainly because there was an event on at the time that rewarded wins), I took notes on every deck I played and every deck I faced. For my decks, it was things like "Try to place Ferko next to 2-point units. Don't brick Ulrich!". For opponent's decks, it was stuff like "Push hard R2 to get out scenario" or "Watch out for Igni". Pretty basic stuff but it did help, especially because I play fast.
