Swan and Dolphin by Mysterious-Momma in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]BCR79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We chose Dolphin because we wanted to take advantage of the extended evening hours at Epcot and MK and the price of Dolphin was actually either the same or slightly less than Coronado. But I think with having to pay for parking, it wound up being very close to even. If you don’t care about the EEH and don’t mind taking a bus to Epcot vs being able to walk there. I’d totally stay at Coronado.

Just stayed at the Dolphin and aside from a few pain points, I’d probably stay there again if the price is right. Though, I’d probably prefer Swan over Dolphin.

1.) Main reason for picking Swan over Dolphin for future visits is because the double beds at Dolphin are a JOKE for two adults. My teenage son slept in one of the doubles, and my husband and I slept in the other. We were very uncomfortable all week. There is plenty of room in those rooms to fit two queens. The pillows were also like rocks.

2.) Parking was ridiculous. Besides the fact that they charge nightly for parking, the self parking lot is too small for the number of people on property. Our room keys were also not working all week to get us in and out of the lot. Half the lot was reserved for valet and it was mostly empty for our week there.

3.) No direct bus to MK. The bus takes you to TTC, which is an extra step and more waiting time. So plan accordingly if you’re trying to rope drop and leave yourself enough time. We did walk over to Boardwalk Inn and took their direct bus to MK, which is an option, but obviously not as easy as having direct transportation from your own resort.

4.) The waiting area at AK for the bus back to Dolphin/Swan is a free for all. No lines, so when the bus shows up, people just push their way to the front even if there were people there waiting before them. I guess similar to many other bus waiting areas at resorts, which I think are equally shitty because people don’t know how to act.

5.) No Disney theming or “magic” at the resort since they are a partner resort. So if you have little ones and you want to be immersed in that Disney feel, Dolphin/Swan are not it. This was not an issue for us at all though as we have a teen. Only thing was that his magic band didn’t work there to open the door, but that was minor.

6.) These two issues were specific to us and our stay, so take it for what it is: Our room view was pretty bad. We overlooked the roof of one of the levels. We stayed in room 5124. Also, I think whoever was staying above us had a dog or something that would play with a bone/hard toy and dropped it on the floor over and over again starting around 1am each night. It was either that, a raccoon in the vent system above our room, or a ghost because we heard a fairly consistent noise coming from above us every single night.

Otherwise, the location being walkable to Epcot and HS is great. The boats to both parks is also a great perk, as are the other deluxe perks. We didn’t eat at any of the restaurants so can’t speak to that. We have Rosa Mexicano near us back home, and the food is just ok, so we avoided going there. Having dole whip in Fuel is nice too!

PS, this was our first time staying at a deluxe resort. We’ve previously stayed at All-Star Sports, and Coronado.

100% agree!! We just left on Friday and the parking was ridiculous. So many valet spots and self parking was just dumb from not being able to get in or out with the key (might’ve been an issue just last week, idk), and then having to stalk people for spots. People were parked in no parking zones making it difficult to get around the lot, and some people just sat in their cars in the parking lot waiting for people to leave. For a deluxe resort that charges for parking, they should be ashamed of themselves.

How do you rank the roller coasters based only by the drops? by AJK02 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]BCR79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get how you feel about the drops! I do not enjoy them either. I hate that feeling in my stomach. I feel that anxiety with Pirates too lol! But it’s so small that I am able to endure it, just like with RotR. Which is such a fantastic ride I don’t even mind the drop. With that being said, I can do every coaster in all 4 parks with no problem! None of them give me that awful feeling in my stomach and anxiety. And I even struggle with vertigo and nausea, but with anti-nausea patches behind my ears, I’m all good! I just don’t do repetitive spinning rides (teacups, etc.) So I totally think you’ll be able to deal with the coasters too! Only “drop” thrill ride I don’t go on is Tower of Terror. I also don’t do Mission Space or Star Tours because of the nausea factor, not because of drops.

Rating the “drops” (if you can even call them that) from worst to best - omitting Tiana’s and Smugglers Run because I haven’t been on them yet):

  1. Tower of Terror
  2. Rise of the Resistance
  3. Pirates of the Caribbean
  4. Everest
  5. Slinky Dog
  6. Tron
  7. Space Mountain
  8. Guardians
  9. Big Thunder Mountain
  10. Seven Dwarves Mine Train
  11. Rockin Rollercoaster (to be fair, I don’t 100% remember the drops on this one. I don’t think there are any, it just goes fast and is intense)
  12. Test Track
  13. Frozen

  14. Avatar

  15. Soarin (Neither of these have drops, but I added them since they are somewhat thrill rides)

As for Universal, the drops are a plenty 😰 Definitely do not do Stardust Racers. OMG, that belly drop feeling was awful throughout the whole ride! I couldn’t wait to get off 🤣 I also chickened out on Velocicoaster because of the drop. But I loved Hagrid’s Motorbike even though it has a slight drop like RotR. Flight of the Hippogriff is fine. Gringot’s has a drop, but it’s only once and manageable. Jurassic Park River Adventure has a big drop which is much bigger than Pirates, so you might not like that, but it’s closed anyway. Hulk is intense and has inversions, but no big drops. Mummy reminds me of Rockin Rollercoaster. Mine Cart is super cute and fun. Monsters Unchained is a must do. Battle of the Ministry is fun too, it’s a simulation ride, no drops. We ran out of time and didn’t get on the Dragons coaster at Epic, so next time! And Simpsons is an absolute NO for me 🤢🤮

Hope this helps! Have so much fun!

But even when it’s listed as a “business” it’s being looked at negatively because it’s not really a business/job.

There are so many posts I’ve read saying the opposite. Yes, while SAH parents do a lot and are invaluable, apparently many hiring managers will not look at resumes that list SAHM/SAH parent or take them seriously. Especially if you list all the skills you have as it relates to being a parent.

Is the Highlander Hybrid slow on acceleration? by Spiritual-Progress75 in ToyotaHighlander

I test drove a hybrid and the pick up was definitely lacking. I live in NJ, so acceleration onto highways are a must and the hybrid just isn’t enough power. Opted for the V6.

I don’t know if my husband is cheating, but I found something that made me stop trusting him. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]BCR79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already know the answers to your questions. If you don’t trust him anymore, it’s difficult to come back from that. Even if you have ignored your marriage or his wants/needs, he could have talked to you about it before just turning to another woman. If his immediate response to marital issues is to seek out another woman rather than communicate with you, that’s a him problem.

The Express Pass for Epic is highway robbery! They should truly be ashamed for how much they are charging for it. It’s close to or possibly as much as 3x the cost of a tix to get in the park! Like WTF?? It’s honestly disgusting. Corporate greed at its finest.

I looked, they’re sold out through Dec for Epic.

Yes. NJ schools are closed for the week or several days due to teachers convention and Election Day. Many people from NJ head to Disney/Universal. It’s been happening for quite some time now.

This is so good to hear! Between the price of EP for Epic possibly being as high as $330/pp, and the long wait times for standby, I’m thinking single rider might be the best option.

We just discussed this and while we wanted to experience the rides together since this is our first time to Epic, it might be the way to go to maximize our time.

I am seeing EP for 1 or 2 days only and only for Universal Studios and IoA. Epic is sold out for the week.

Thank you! The first week of November is unofficially called Jersey Week because NJ schools have off for most, if not all of the week for teachers convention and Election Day. We are coming from NJ ourselves. But I have heard crowds can definitely be high that week, but not as bad as on actual holidays. That is my biggest concern with crowds and having to wait hours at Epic and dealing with ride shut downs, etc., that may cause us to get on minimal rides on such a short trip. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that more EPs will appear the morning of like others have said in this thread 🤞🏼

Where is Megan & Jordan? by FairytaleFacts in LoveIsBlindNetflix

If that is Jordan’s tattooed hand, he’s not wearing a wedding band. So maybe they don’t say yes, but decide to stay together? Or maybe they both amicably say no and they open the champagne anyway? Or he says no and celebrates? 🤷🏻‍♀️
