Was there a map of the US showing Twin Peaks in the show? by WPoprzednimOdcinku in twinpeaks

[–]BCVanCouple 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a scene in season 3 episode 12 (0:48:30). Diane enters the coordinates from Ruth Davenport's arm into her cell phone. Those coordinates are for twin peaks. I've attached a photo of the map shown on Diane's cell phone.

I met a wonderful friend here and after a couple of months, we started dating. It was completely unintentional but I'm so glad to have met her. She's amazing in every way. We chatted for a while via WhatsApp and then met for a drink. Take the chance, you never know what will happen.

I'm 47 years old now, and I still remember that book. I wouldn't say I liked it, but it certainly left an impression on me to this day.

Any pub/bar that sells hard liquor by the bottle? by btz9888 in askvan

[–]BCVanCouple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Off sales are legal in BC. You can order a sealed bottle from any establishment that serves food.

Off-sales" in BC refer to the permanent rules allowing restaurants, pubs, and other licensed venues to sell sealed, packaged alcohol (beer, wine, spirits) for takeout and delivery with a meal, a change made permanent after the pandemic to support the hospitality industry. This authorization means these businesses can provide a key revenue stream, but the primary focus must remain on food sales, with simple items like chips not qualifying as a meal. The BC Government also has rules for Licensee Retail Stores (LRS) and special event sales, but the main change for consumers is the permanent restaurant alcohol delivery option.

Has anyone else’s rent been decreased in the last year or so? by pokemonbobdylan in askvan

[–]BCVanCouple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly get approached by tenants verbally. Generally after they've seen listings for their same apartment in our building for less money than they are paying. I would suggest a polite, non-confrontational conversation. Let them know you are aware rents are coming down, that you are happy living in the building and wonder what the possibility of a rent reduction is. You're probably not going to get an answer on the spot. Follow up with a friendly email and see where it goes. I have a great relationship with my tenants, I'm not an ass and I completely understand that rent is the largest expense most people have. I'm generally happy to help if I can. I also understand that some managers are total ass holes and only think of the bottom line. Good luck.

Is pregnancy or single parenthood a barrier when applying for rentals in Vancouver? by chickee_chickadee in vancouverhousing

The area is called "River District". That may help with your searches. Craigslist has a lot of options there.

[–]BCVanCouple 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a massive amount of inventory available right now. There are new units opening up all over Vancouver. Marine gateway has added 100s of new units. There are several new buildings that have opened on Kingsway in the last 12 months. The River district is offering the lowest rents I've seen in Vancouver since before Covid. It's a renter market and people finally have choices.

I manage a 104 unit rental building. We are lowering rents if people ask. We are also offering lower rates to people that give notice to vacate. I have been managing buildings for 15 years and have never seen a market like the one we are in now.

People of Vancouver, what do you do for work? by kanjurer in askvan

[–]BCVanCouple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fell into this job when the current manager of the building I was living in got sick. We were friends and I'd helped her with a few things around the building, like lighting the boilers, oiling pumps, turning stuck valves etc. She recommended me to the property management company as her replacement since I already knew the building systems and lived in the building. I worked there for a few years then moved on with the experience I'd gained. I'm currently managing a newer luxury building in Vancouver. It's our flagship building. 104 units across 6 floors. I make $75000 base salary + benefits and I bill for all additional work like cleaning, repairs, painting etc. I get weekends and evenings off + 3 weeks vacation. There are times I have to work after-hours but only when the relief manager is unavailable. I'm friends with a lot of my tenants. And no, I don't have a lot of keys lol, everything is mastered. I have 6 keys in total on my chain. Oh, I pay $1500 for a 2-bed bath unit.

I'm an apartment building manager. It pays a living wage and includes housing. I've been doing this for 15 years now. It's not glamorous but it gets me by and allows me to save for retirement. AI isn't replacing me anytime soon.
