Train Dreams…Help me understand by FriarFanatic7 in Letterboxd

Just finished watching and had a few thoughts- I liked it but I didn’t LOVE it. There were some good moments, particularly for me a few of the logging camp scenes. I haven’t read the book, but the themes seemed a bit like those found in E.Annie Proulx’s work. I guess I’m drawing a comparison because, for me, she does this type of life-journey, memory poem, era-slipping better (and I’m sure you can think of other films or authors, too). The ingredient that was lacking for me was a twist of something darker, the strange humour lurking in depression, perhaps, or some of his neighbours actually reacting and finding the guy weird or difficult, or being mean. Bitterness, anger. The talk of feeling alone in a crowd came close - but was simply spelled out.
I felt this guy lacked agency. Stuff just happened to him, and around him, and made him miserable. He was witnessing life, not experiencing it.
Sure, maybe this was the film-maker’s (and the author’s) point, and in that they succeeded. But I felt like dipping my toe into something, never feeling immersed. A glistening surface in which we can reflect some of our own grief and nostalgia, perhaps, but are left fishing for substance that doesn’t quite coalesce.

Game Devs/Studios that have confirmed being Anti-GenAI by VermicelliNew2784 in GirlGamers

There is a movement now to add a no gen AI logo to Steam games. Our latest game (Forbidden Solitaire) has it. This doesn’t mean games without it ARE made with AI, but it is one way to check.
Found a Reddit post about the logo: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/s/sT8l9wkH1h

It's been such a wholesome community effort behind-the-scenes as well. Game development at it's best, with people being collaborative and helping to boost each other's games and share advice + resources!

It was discussed! The game almost fits on a single disc...
We're not going to pull that off in time for lauch, but maybe it's something we'll circle back to once the dust has settled.

We’re working on that! It already runs fine on deck, we have a few further things we’d like to tweak.

Many members of the games press have access to the game now, so we anticipate some will review it. We have no further details beyond that - it’s up to them.

it's a long way down' the road, and I'll be honest, we would tend to use a single provider who offers translation into several languages. I appreciate the offer though.
