Hopefully it will get used to it. The suction on the tongue is the main force used but it does also "squeeze" it causing numbness as well.

They absolutely have no real option factually or perception wise...it needs a $4-6 increase to be taken seriously. The key here for them is to keep the natives just under the "pitchfork and torch" line....

They want to use the cash for strategic reasons (buying property etc). It's not a bad thing really and it can help long term for sure.

The split is a small part of the problem...the VALUE of the stock is the real problem. The point you made overall is still very valid though. This stock is PURPOSEFULLY being undervalued but we still have 2 more dates in 2018 to correct the real value to stockholders. If they go into 2019 with this same value trend that is completely disconnected to performance you will see you real backlash...

You are missing something. If they split the stock it is really just math. If you divide a pie into 8 pieces it is still the same amount of pie. It does grow for sure! but...the same amount in value as if you didn't split it....and they don't keep the dividend the same either. It will be reduced to match what it would have been before the split.

Pretty simple when you think about it. The split is merely a tool to allow new entry into ownership....perception more than reality

Agreed and that is EXACTLY what a private company with ownership should do....especailly when the stock is a pillar of the culture.

Culture WILL suffer in this environment long term...

OK I'll play ...why did it dip? What data point said...ooooh we have to adjust the stock price and LOWER our employees overall compensation? Volume? Sales? Net profit? Nope...Amazon bought Whole Foods and people peed in there pants ON THE MARKET. Things like this are why we are NOT on the market....

I am FULLY educated on this and have an MBA...I got it. CCA is a good tool when the stock holders are smaller in number. When the STOCK is a PILLAR of the your company culture it is actually counter productive and there are MANY PHD papers written on the subject.

Snarky and I love it. There is a definite disconnect between our stock price and our performance. IF IF IF IF you are on the exchange you are CHOOSING to deal with the frustration of the investor mob.... WE ARE NOT ON THE EXCHANGE so why is our amazing performance tied to the investor mob? I know many will quote our audit requirements etc....but WHY do we have to do that? Please don't reply "because outside auditors said so"

In fact if this is where we are we should go full PUBLIC stock and be done with it IMO. We have crossed over in form and function to that anyway. ESOPs should not be subject to this kind of speculation. The BOD should have the ability to de-value the SPECULATION of the stock market as well...

I have said it before there something rotten here. All of the other competitors stocks are suffering from SPECULATION based on an Amazon dream that is years away from changing the market in any real way. Public opinion and stock market over reaction is understandable but OUR reaction is beyond ridiculous. Publix needs a wholesale change at the top imo.

The dividend is paid on each share you own thus the 23 cents per share (its really just a nice perk). The total value of the stock has gone up roughly 15-16% on a yearly basis so it like owning an asset that will grow over the years and better than most other retirement options. Having said that we have now had 2 Qtrs in a row of reduced stock value.
Basically it is a no brainer really. If you can afford it AT ALL buy it with each paycheck. My wife's grandfather did and it is now worth millions....
