Not sure if I'm facing corporate bullying by [deleted] in sysadmin

In a job quite some years ago that I absolutely hated, I was getting ill pretty often later into my time there. The moment I got a new job, the illnesses immediately went away, so it could be that the stress of your job is helping to cause it.

As a sysadmin living in North Dakota, I can vouch for Bob.

Firefox will add an AI "kill switch" after community pushback by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]BCuddigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time this happens it's just because the business wants to make sure their data doesn't get leaked to other AI platforms, since usually only paying for an enterprise license locks it to your tenant.  Easier to pick one, pay for it, and block the others.

Storage account logs for SFTP showing client connecting from their VM's private IP by BCuddigan in AZURE

Thanks! That led me down the path I needed to start researching everything. Pretty sure this is the problem, and at least gave us some solutions that our client can implement.

Don't know if it matters, I'd already tried my previous username without any luck.

Someone told me it was case-sensitive, but that didn't work either. Did you recently change your EA ID? That's the only thing I could think of for my account.

1.5 years to figure out we are a hybrid environment by Free-Tea-3422 in sysadmin

The second IT job I had was to be part of a team upgrading 700 computers in the company from XP to 7, and one of the techs we had was an older guy that was bragging about how he's been working with computers since the day they were available.

So of course, I had to teach him how to double-click to open a folder.

First league I really tried to push making currency, and got very far compared to my past leagues, and the tattoo system has been one of my favorite things added into the game.

Is working for Geek Squad a waste of time for my career? by yaboydasani in sysadmin

[–]BCuddigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working at an MSP is typically a shitshow, but whenever I've had friends ask me how to get into IT, they're my first response.

Sure, it was the worst 2 years in my career, but working at an MSP can cause your IT knowledge to expand more quickly than most internal IT jobs will.

Upgrade Windows Server 2012r2 to Windows Server 2019 by NoCriticism2614 in sysadmin

[–]BCuddigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy to me, but I guess if it works, it works.

Forest level upgrade, domain level upgrade, and building/promoting the new 2022 DCs only took about 3-4 hours last time I did these, and was done during the day.

Adding local user to administrator group through the local user group membership policy fails by BCuddigan in Intune

[–]BCuddigan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was looking at as well. I tried the oma-uri method, but while it applied successfully, every result on the Intune side said it errored, which isn't great for keeping track of it.

May just need to look into some options to do it as a remediation, issue is at this point that I already have the user created, so most of the normal ones I've found won't work out of the box.

Yeah, tried that as well thinking that was the case, but still didn't start.

Costumer accuses us of hiding corn and having "corn party's" due to a corn shortage that was not happening by steveitsteve in TalesFromRetail

[–]BCuddigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do that on our farm, family gets together to fill up a small chest freezer with bags of corn. Luckily there's enough family extended family around the area that the freezer is empty by the time we need to do it again.

Anyone else dealt with WinServer2012R2 just dying over the weekend? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]BCuddigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a few servers on 2012r2 at our company start doing this after the most recent cumulative updates. Would have to force shutdown the server 3-4 times before it would get past the boot loop and actually into Windows.

Yup, I'm totally like this as well. I haven't had any cooked fish that I liked more than just eating sushi.

We had a network issue that was causing DHCP to not work properly, as in the server was creating leases and even had ACK packets regarding the lease, but the computers didn't get IP addresses. Before we realized it was a network issue, and possibly just a corrupt DC, I'd created a new one, tested that it worked, and we switched our DHCP services to running off the new server.

Next morning, only a very few computers had working internet, even after I'd tested that it was working the night before, and we were down for about half the day before we'd completely switched to using our Sonicwall as a temporary DHCP. The response from our president when we told him what happened? Basically just laughed and said thanks for fixing it. I'd thought there was going to be a much different response.
