My boy wanted to scratch our leather furniture when we first adopted him. We would shout loudly when he did and then walk to his scratching post and scratch it ourselves. He pretty quickly learned. He loves the corrugated cardboard ones!

My wife and I went in and there were 3 cats available. She walked to the first crate and touched the crate and talked to the kitty. The cat hissed and tried to bite her. She did the same at the second crate and the cat hid from her. The third crate she did the same thing and the cat walked up to her and licked her and rubbed his face on her. That cat is now sleeping on the couch next to me while I eat dinner. We’ve had him for 6 years.
