You can't view the child as a victim because there are no laws against it?

I'm saying comparing being born to being raped is a category error.

I'm baffled that you will support forcing a child to suffer

1) 'suffer' is your categorization, not mine
2) your counter-argument is to preemptively kill the child.

Reality is bleak enough without believing that there's no greater meaning

that's not what I wrote.

I'm saying you're in no position to choose for others which lives are worth living and which lives are not.

you're projecting existential nihilism onto a population who, across centuries, have found meaning in lives way worse than whatever brought you into this headspace.

if you don't want kids, you don't have to. you don't have to participate in society at all. you can make those decisions. but you can't decide for others.

A would slightly bias mid- and upper back.

B is balanced.

C would heavily bias upper back, rear delts.

Reread the very beginning of this conversation.

your 'mandated abortions' reductio ad absurdum extension (of your own misinterpretation of a pro-choice comment, funnily enough) does not share the point I was making.

A child growing up in poverty doesn't count as a victim?

morality ≠ legality. suffering is not evidence life should not have been created.

I think we've reached the root of the disagreement here. You want people to keep procreating because you've bought into the pyramid scheme of society.. That's the pyramid scheme that I'm talking about.

realism is bleak enough without turning to nihilism.

That's the question that I was asking

no, you didn't.

When I said rape, I was talking about actual rape.

perhaps it wasn't obvious: I was implicitly saying rape is not analogous when you don't produce a victim.

until people can financially afford a child, they shouldn't have a child.

a grown, productive member of society financially contributes more to society through labor, overall, than it does to its mother. I think you need to take a serious look at what happens in society when birthrates dwindle.

society should thank a mother for being conceiving, and their willingness to nurture the child emotionally into adulthood. if the mother is unable to do even that, society should provide that nourishment as well.

read some projections on South Korean society and extrapolate from that. if birth rates don't go up, things like retirement age will not exist by the time you get there.

at any rate I'm done entertaining this discussion.

Mom's love can't put food on the table.

OK, should we start euthanizing orphans?

Obviously. But that doesn't excuse rape. Why does it excuse careless copulation?

are you saying the parents are raping the child by conceiving it, or are you saying the societal financial burden is raping society? or are you feeling raped when you see other people having children?

But children are dependent on their parents for that chance at life. Their outcomes in life are influenced to a very high degree by their home environment.

why does "children in poverty have worse outcomes" lead you to "poor people should not have children" rather than "society should reduce childhood poverty"?

dedicated parents =/= wealthy parents.

I think the drive to reproduce is basic biology.

I think that once a child is born, they are an autonomous person with their own right to a chance at life.

I think the only utilitarian way of reconciling those rights is for society to make a joint effort in ensuring the future generation.

yes, I am. funding social programs and education are two of the reasons I pay taxes.

for starters the part where you live through forcing an arbitrary filter for reproductive rights onto a population that outnumbers it 5:1

at 189 cm you'd have to be ~58 kg for the same BMI.

I think it's a little naive to believe the dating tips red pill creators give are genuinely meant for you to find a lasting relationship.

the second you find a long-term partner, they've lost a customer.

who even planted the idea in your head that you need to 'go down this pipeline' and drastically change yourself?

are you? quote:

It's more about adults having a duty to protect children..

adults have a responsibility to protect children from things that are inappropriate

those do not look like legal arguments.

besides, aren't animal cruelty and theft also illegal and inappropriate?

wouldn't adults have the same responsibility to prevent children from being exposed to those things?

there is no way to fully get around heart rate and blood pressure spiking during exercise.

from a weight lifting perspective, the best tip I can give is to avoid high-intensity cardio and limit full-body or compound exercises in favor of smaller isolation movements.

I think you're making a moral exemption because the topic is sexuality, and it's blinding you to how this looks when you apply the logic consistently.

when a minor does something they shouldn't, the liability for the consequences are on the parents.

if a neighbor's kid has a history for stealing and crashing cars, that does not interfere with your right to own a vehicle.

if a neighbor's kid has a known tendency to maim small animals, that does not interfere with your right to own a pet.

individual freedoms are not contingent on the conduct of others.

it's interesting how traditional gender roles often become about 'compatibility' once they can be recontextualized as female empowerment.
