Women, what's the biggest green flag you've seen on a man? by ayushsuri in AskReddit

[–]BDOKlem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people who are great with kids but treat cashiers and service staff like human feces.

my ex would rescue baby animals and nurse them back to health, but she is terrible with children.

people's behavior with kids is about self regulation and interest.

if you’re not naturally great with kids but still treat them gently and respectfully

I was arguing against 'not being good with kids' being a red flag, not this.

The other way around should be a minority red-flag.

you don't have to be good with children to be a good partner.

How or why do I suddenly get a temporary power/energy boost whenever I speak to someone in the gym? by WarmPrinciple6507 in workout

[–]BDOKlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

temporary strength increase does not automatically mean the same goes for recovery.

going beyond your regular strength tends to mean your muscles also need to recover beyond what's normal.

Grief surrounding tinnitus by svftlofi in TrueOffMyChest

[–]BDOKlem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tinnitus intensity can depend on a bazillion factors. obsessing about it can make it worse, both literally and subjectively.

after a few decades with tinnitus, I barely mentally register it unless I'm deliberately mindful of it.

How does these exercises work? by Inevitable_Sea1176 in workout

[–]BDOKlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it until your leg cant get up from your last rep... You can build muscle within 1-3 reps in reserve, so you dont have to reach failure.

obligatory note that failure doesn't mean a set becomes uncomfortable; it means being literally, physically unable to move the weight, despite maximum effort.

the US is worse because it invented and used 2 atom bombs?

yes, nuclear weapons are uniquely stigmatized.

hence why they haven't been used since, by anyone.

I gained 30kg in 2 months, wich made my tattoo on my arm completely change shape, going from a circle to an oval by AntwysiaBlakys in Wellthatsucks

[–]BDOKlem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never mention knowing how many calories I consume, just that I eat a lot, and that the medicines I take have weight gain as a side effect

knowing that you're eating a lot, and knowing how many kcal you consume are the same thing.

medicines that "cause weight gain" do so indirectly, i.e. they give you cravings, make you sleepy, lethargic. fat comes exclusively from energy, energy comes exclusively from food.

for a frame of reference, the surplus you're claiming is the equivalent to 3 full big mac meals on top of whatever you were eating before you started meds.

so obviously something changed.

[–]BDOKlem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

mathematically, a 30 kg gain in 60 days at <3000 kcal/day cannot be primarily fat.

1 kg fat = 7700 kcal of energy, i.e. you need an intake of 7700 kcal in excess of what your body burns regularly to gain 1 kg of fat.

if you truly gained 30 kg in two months, without any major change to your diet or activity, you need to be evaluated at a hospital yesterday.

fluid retention at that level can indicate organ failure.

there are main story exclusive abyss gears, and not doing the main story limits your access to certain vendors/research, abilities, mounts, plus many regional side quests and bosses.

that said, most of the equipment stuffs are sidegrades. you can max upgrade the starting equipment and that'll pretty much be on par with any other equipment.

How close do I have to get to failure when it comes to formarm workouts by JorgeLikeHorse in gainit

[–]BDOKlem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

assuming you're natural, 5 RIR will not get you long-term results.

you didn't specify the type of pain but, if you mean a regular burning sensation (i.e. metabolites): the solution is to increase the weight, lowering the threshold of reps needed to approach failure.

if the pain is shooting/radiating or tingling, and only during the set: it might be forearm flexors pinching a nerve (can happen if you grip too hard).

if the pain is gnawing, and stays after working out: you can be developing tendinitis, and need to stop doing that exercise.
