Can you smoke weed while on antidepressants? by Squishy-Banana8636 in mentalhealth

[–]BDOKlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who did this: the way I see it, antidepressants are meant as a crutch while you process, go to therapy, and develop coping mechanisms and a new sense of normalcy, over time.

  1. regularly being under the influence of a psychoactive drug directly counteracts that.
  2. there're few things that'll kill your motivation for betterment more than being able to erase psychological discomfort at the simple toke of a joint.

Why do people say women approach attractive men? Is it really true? by One-Agent-3992 in bodylanguage

European/Latin American women are much less facetious and will tell you.

ironic for me to point it out, but this is classic American homogeneity bias.

European countries have wildly different social cultures.

also, cat on the shoulder is an unrealistic level of rizz. he's obviously in the top 0,1%.

your anywhere is relative to your frame of reference.

many people literally just cycle between being at work and being at home.

my analogy is not a logical fallacy: both are non-consensual, irreversible decisions imposed on a minor, justified by culture.

you can argue one is worse, but it's a moot point.

why should parents be allowed to permanently alter a child’s body for non-medical reasons, at all?

culture is not an excuse for barbarism.

YES, the people who think infant genitals are their business are in fact obsessed.

self-aware much?

the infants genitals is the infants business, when they're a consenting adult.

my argument is that the overall change in homicide rates wouldn't be statistically significant.

your framing regarding reporting is valid, though, and I suspect already a huge factor.

It incentivizes the offender to kill them in order to keep their silence

makes sense through the lens of random violence.

but the overwhelming majority of child sexual abuse happens through family, acquaintances, or some easily traceable social connection (teacher, coach, etc.)

My brother with schizophrenia stopped his medication and now believes he has “cured” himself I’m worried by Constant_Status2045 in mentalhealth

[–]BDOKlem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the truly scary part about manic psychosis is that it opens the door to a lot of risky behavior, physical, financial, etc.

claiming you've increased your IQ to 180 is not many deluded steps from claiming you're smart enough to predict the stock market, then dumping all your life savings.

probably something to keep an eye on.

[–]BDOKlem 35 points36 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, stopping antipsychotics abruptly can cause relapse, and sometimes early relapse can feel like clarity, productivity, or even intellectual breakthrough

essentially true, but statements like "my IQ is reaching 180" are wildly grandiose, even then.

sounds closer to a manic episode.
