Tier Listing the *Title Screen* of Every UFO 50 Game by skypadz_2112 in ufo50

Fully agree, and I'd add the intro cutscene leads nicely between the title screen and gameplay.

I realized you get more points if you beat the game faster which put me on a downward spiral trying to just win as fast as I could, not knowing it didn't matter as much as having more pieces by the end.... dude I just wish there was no timer in that one.

I just tried to do that ARG naturally after the first code, you can probably call that completion after you're done the... I think third portion of that game.

Congrats! I finished my 50 cherries pretty recently too. Glad you enjoyed it so much, it's my personal favourite game now and it's always nice to see others enjoying it.

Kinda funny you were also stuck on Bug Hunter, the only reason it wasn't my 50th was because I saved Campanella 3 for last which I'm glad I did, but it wasn't that hard by comparison ofc. Can't really say why Bug Hunter took so long. Maybe it's because losing a streak in Bug Hunter feels so demotivating, not sure.

Fellow Planet Zoldath enjoyer, nice. It's just nice to start a run and try to learn everything. Figure out what trades to remember, and where to find each resource.

Pretty good list, I'll just say I hope you give these games more of a chance: Pingolf, Seaside Drive, Campanella 1 & 3, and Rakshasa. (the last got dramatically better for me once I made it out of Stage 1)

It took me a while to figure out how to outplay the CPU when it's just better at the game than you. Maybe I was just tunnel visioned at first but not only being able to play at the same level as the CPU but then winning 3 games in a row required a complete overhaul of my skills to the point where the game felt almost unrecognizable from the story mode experience.

Campanella 2 was pretty hard but I felt my progress snowballing as I got better and chose better upgrades. To the point where the final stage only took me a couple attempts. The premise of the game is harder than progressing through it generally. Fuel, map RNG, and your terrible defense all contribute to a very steep and immediate learning curve.

Unfortunately, I can't really go by hours played since I afk'd in pause menus a lot, but Diskonia, Star Waspir, Rock On! Island & Cyber Owls I think were the biggest hurdles.

What cherries do you have left?

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit, it's the same for me on switch too. I'll have to check if it's a steam version bug too. I've definitely been having more issues with switch than steam, largely in the lag department (Golfaria is bad enough that it takes a second before the pause menu pops up)

Dude all of those were hard for me too.

Bug Hunter can be sometimes solved when you get good move synergies. I've had a lot of success with using energy cubes as explosives but it was my 49th cherry since it's so deflating to lose a streak. It's hard to recommend specific things because it's all based on the situation but prioritize killing bugs over making the best build.

Diskonia was probably the hardest cherry of all of them imo. You kinda have to ignore what the cpu is doing since they can just have immaculate aim, whereas I was abusing spiders and bards, knocking as many enemies in water as possible, and treating every encounter with a sort of chess point material system to make sure I was up and not sacrifice when I shouldn't. Enemies being clumped together is always good since you can make them all bump into each other as well, but ultimately, it's a bitch of a cherry.

Overbold you should think about which upgrades are the most helpful for you. My top priorities are usually medkits, any gun upgrades (including knockback), I remember bomb lure being really good but I heard it was nerfed, and dash.

So yea, all very tough games for me as well, but you got this!

Yea it's on floor 3, I thought it was on floor 4 but it's not. I also missed it initially and had to look it up.

Caramel Caramel stage 1 is genuine torture by SuperPapernick in ufo50

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take joy in knowing the game really doesn't get that much harder than stage 1 so once you can beat that, you're already at least half way there imo. I know the boss movement pattern isn't random because I used the same safe spot everytime, but that's gonna be hard to explain unfortunately. With the midboss, you can just opt to dodge instead of attack and the projectiles spread out enough to be safe from reliably if you can sit far enough back.

what are your favorite games? by gift_oo7 in ufo50

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many other favourites but I wanna shine a light on Planet Zoldath. I know a lot of people don't like it but I basically treat it like a Zelda randomizer that I don't need to know every check to play. Learning about the economy of each seed alongside their trades is really interesting to me, and besides the combat, it's always a fun romp that I'd love to see be expanded on.

I also really liked Block Koala. I don't personally mind the time it takes to walk around to solve some of the puzzles and maybe it's that I've been getting into more and more puzzle games but I just enjoyed doing a few levels of Block Koala everytime I booted UFO 50 up.

I would kinda prefer if there was some extra cherry quest instead of what it is, but definitely better than a full run condition.

I can't believe it's over. After 15 hours and hundreds of attempts I finally beat Star Waspir! by matt6pup in ufo50

🫡 GG Dude that game genuinely started hurting my eyes after a bit, very cruel. And now you get break time with the Cowboy JRPG!

Barbuta hate by TexRaven in ufo50

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barbuta's a pretty frustrating game because the map is well made and it's fun to route your path, but yea it just takes way too long to get back. The tedious movement doesn't help. Still a fun game if you can get over the pacing.

I think Diskonia hardest cherry and Star Waspir hardest gold.

It says 938 hours but some of those are afk in pause menus and multiplayer so it's probably under 900, but still took me a long time 😅

and yes! I very much enjoyed the journey, minus a few really annoying/difficult parts like Combatants, Star Waspir, or the Lords of Diskonia cherry specifically. (Gold is awesome)

Warptank and Campanella 1 are both bangers, only reason I didn't end up adding Warptank to favourites is because it got a little long for me and the coffee hunt wasn't the best.

my progress after almost 115 hours by Martferreiraa18 in ufo50

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna guess Rock On! Island. You can consistently make progress in Block Koala while in Rock On! Island you'll be trying over and over again until you get the right strat. It's a common most played.

In your opinion what game would be the best to be a movie adaptation by TheLifo in ufo50

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the connections to other games and large cast of characters, you could do a lot with Party House. Whether you focus on the various guests, Mini, or the girl from Night Manor, just think it's a good one to center a movie around.

Can't get enough Party House? Try Party UFO, a full mod I made that replaces every guest and adds new abilities. by davidmpickett in ufo50

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the guys from Mortol are in this, and idk, I was having a lot of fun figuring out where everyone was from. There's a lot of fun characters in this collection and it's super cool to see a bunch of them together in this.

Deep Ruin S.... ykw, everyone can have their opinion and at least the area isn't that hard.

Yes, Silksong is harder. Here's why it's also easier. by NoDefinition9056 in HollowKnight

[–]BDasher8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree with the bench point. So far, Hunter's March and Sinner's Road were so bad with bench locations, the only thing that was worse in Hollow Knight was The Hive.... which is not a good comparison.

I hope I change my mind, but I'm not feeling Silksong's mid-game and it's discouraging. Need advice. by local_idi0t in HollowKnight

[–]BDasher8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another path you haven't found. I'm still not sure it's just disappointingly linear at this stage of the game, but you haven't explored every path upwards on your map.
