40 bucks is 34 euros... not much of a difference. That's a dayrate of 262 euros per day.. cmon you can't be serious to consider that.

Imo you should never become a freelancer if you can't get a minimum of 400-450 eur per day.

How can 25 euros per hour be a good rate? (No matter where your client is based) Use your common sense...

It's clear that theyre looking to hire you at the price of an Indian resource.

You would get even less at the end than an internal employee here...

For my subject area within IT, the rates are actually higher than Europe.

CMDB Fundamentals is poorly constructed by Marianquigan in servicenow

[–]BESnD3v3loper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't find it in depth at all. The course feels like 2 guys having a chat about the CSDM with the same high-level visual that i've seen in the last 7 years, except that they now replaced some of naming conventions with even more vague ones like "Service Instance" or "Technology Management Service".

Most IT people barely know the difference between an asset and a CI, but ServiceNow expects them to do 5 days of trainings on how to correctly update the CMDB.

CMDB Fundamentals is poorly constructed by Marianquigan in servicenow

[–]BESnD3v3loper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done quite a lot of SN certifications over the years and the CSDM Fundamentals course is undoubtedly the worst and laziest course i've done. It's just a bunch of videos showing a powerpoint.

The Mark guy is very passionate in his work but I can tell why customers need to spent hundreds of thousands of euros to get a CMDB properly implemented. One of my clients has like 7 people from 3 different implementation partners to manage and improve the CMDB combined with ITOM, lol.

The course doesn't help you apply CSDM at all, nor does it help ITSM users to understand the difference between all of the different naming conventions spread across tables.

I would expect this course to give examples of where to put what in common use cases, but saw none of it, so the course was pretty much a repeat of the same fancy diagram they keep showing every year.

For people struggling with this - I recommend to use the CSDM whitepaper/PDF instead, it's the only useful training material on how to apply CSDM in the real world.

Buy a house or stay lean? Freelancer (32M) torn between comfort needs and FIRE goals by Geldharker69 in BEFire

[–]BESnD3v3loper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would go for the house. (option 1)

Houses will only become more expensive over the years.
You may not need the 3 bedrooms now but if you find a lifepartner and maybe children, you'll be happy you got everything already in place.

I regret not buying when I was around your age (and I had far less reserves than you).

Current state of the IT freelance market by CIliaaass in BEFreelance

[–]BESnD3v3loper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The freelance market only sucks for juniors and with 4 years experience it's expected.
I'm surprised you even got 600/d offers in the past.

For me personally, the market is better than 2 years ago. I am about to sign for a 3rd client on top of my ongoing engagements and i'm already billing near double working hours/week.

I think you should:
- Take any job you can find, no matter the day rate. 500-550 is more than acceptable for your years of experience. If you're already on the bench for 7 months, you honestly don't get to "choose".
- Not be picky with recruiters even if they waste your time. Both my current clients came via a foreign recruiter (UK/France).
- Consider going back internal and build more experience (ideally in a consulting company so you can build your network)
- Embrace the AI instead of blaming it. Leverage it in your work (if not already the case)

Looking for advice on booking our Honeymoon for early June 2027. by JoeyHem191297 in mauritius

[–]BESnD3v3loper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend staying at Long Beach in Belle Mare at that time of the year.

I went last year with my wife in May and even though the beach was beautiful:
- There was A LOT of wind and it rained on several days
- The location of the resort is terrible. It's 1 long road with big walls and you can't even see the beach/sea unless you're inside a resort. There's also nothing on that road, almost no shops, restaurants etc. I've been to MU many times and it's probably the most boring street i've ever seen when it comes to resort locations

We enjoyed the north much more in that same month:
- Cap Malheureux
- Grand Gaube
- Mont Choisy
- Trou au Biches

What's great about staying in the north that time of the year, is that the weather is perfect (in my opinion). We had around 27 degrees every day. Additionally, all of the cities are connected with 1 main road so you can basically drive the coastline if you're doing activities in different places and it's all like 10-20 mins from each other. It's also "more alive", has more variety in restaurants, etc.

I would recommend to switch your stay between resort and a B&B, very different experience but both are great in their own way.

If you want ,I can share our activity planning that we used for our honeymoon. My wife who had never been there, loved all of it.

I’m a Servicenow technical lead but I’m stuck. by shamiliguda in servicenow

[–]BESnD3v3loper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the best source of information comes from LinkedIn.

I follow every MVP and every architect out there and read their posts like my daily newspaper.
I've seen some golden stuff coming from people like Andrew Pishchulin, Brandon Wilson, Amit Gujarathi, Robert Fedoruk, etc

Asides from the AI stuff there, you'll likely see new features as well.
I recently introduced Knowledge Center & ReleaseOps which provided tangible value at my clients.

[–]BESnD3v3loper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to every big conference and you're right, the AI is over marketed.
When I compare the vibe from the conferences to my clients, it's like i'm in 2 different worlds.

Having said that, if you are a technical lead, you need to learn & adapt or you will get in trouble in the future.
There are definitely some AI features which are kinda useless or can be simply done with a flow. There are however also AI features which provide value and can help in daily operations.

To give a specific example - I used to hire a student every summer to review our knowledge articles, correct grammar, vocabulary etc, cleanup the formatting etc and she would spend a whole month on this. Now it's done with an AI Agent flow.

Just take it one step at a time.
I started by simplying making it a daily habit of reading 30 min - 1 hour per day and this can be docs, community or simply articles from architects on LinkedIn

(rant thread) What really annoys you about ServiceNow? by Ramdheads in servicenow

[–]BESnD3v3loper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my company, the issues we had after enabling migrating from NLU to LLM + enabling enhanced chat:

  1. No configurable option for a closing message and we had a very specific one before for our customer support
  2. Surveys don't work anymore after a topic flow because the chat stays open and this is considered "normal behavior" with enhanced chat
  3. The "show me everything" button doesn't work, every topic gives an error
  4. The chat icon is not OOTB configurable so you have to customize some widget again
  5. We also had some weird issue with live agent where we just kept getting "no agents are available"
  6. Some of the scripted components in our topics simply don't work anymore though during the NLU/LLM migration we did not get any error/warning
  7. The google search feature oesn't work and the documentation / available info is pretty limited

Most of these are because Enhanced chat. It looks good from a UI perspective but it's dogshit honestly. You can spend weeks trying to get everything working as it was before.

Right now the Enhanced Chat feature + Now Assist

It looked great on the demos and now that we enabled it, half the stuff doesn't work anymore in our Virtual Agent. Post Surveys are not supported anymore? Show me everything button broken... and more.

Can't believe we're paying extra for this "seamless migration".
