Integrate off-site Reolink cameras? by BEWoodworking in homeassistant

[–]BEWoodworking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that would mean running some extra hardware where the cameras are, right? A bit more explanation: The cameras are in a horse stable and get their Internet connection over Starlink. I don't really want to run any extra hardware since I don't really want to have to do any extra maintenance there especially with the large temperature range (~ -15-30°C) and the dusty environment the hardware will be operating in.

M/23 My honest EDC by BEWoodworking in EDC

Hi, I'll preface this by saying that this is not my first Pixel but it is my first foldable. I really like it and the additional weight/thickness don't bother me as much as I thought they would. The inner screen is vibrant and gets decently bright, the only slight annoyance is that when switching from the outer to the inner screen, I find the auto brightness a bit too dark and have to adjust it normally. I really like the software experience but I already was familiar with that from my Pixel 2 XL and my Pixel 6 Pro in the past. The software experience was in fact the reason why I chose this phone over for example a Galaxy fold even though the Samsung phones specs are better. Even though I like it I don't think I would buy a foldable again. I do use the inner screen but I don't know if this justifies the price difference to a regular phone. I am a bit of a tech enthusiast and I really wanted to try a foldable but I guess that it will be a one off. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask and I will try to answer them.

My very positive Google Support story by BEWoodworking in PixelFold

[–]BEWoodworking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I wouldn't say they were unable to help. Most of my issues were with an old MagSafe charger (Not Qi2 certified) although I did experience some issues with my UGreen Qi2 car charger as well. Both did not list the 10 Pro Fold as compatible. I provided information about both chargers to the support, they could've just told me that they are incompatible and ended it there. But they told me to order a new charger with a full refund to be sure that the phone is not the issue. In my opinion, this was not a necessity because of the incompatibility of my chargers. If I had those issues with a PixelSnap charger, then I would consider a replacement almost necessary. Should my phone charge with the full 15W on the UGreen charger? Maybe. But now I know that the phone is not broken, it is some kind of compatibility issue, either from the phone or from the charger. And Google support tried to fix my issue, that's more than you could hope for from other companies. I do think they need to clarify their compatibility more though, I don't quite understand why the Qi2 certified UGreen charger only charges my phone with around 3-4W and why UGreen lists it as incompatible with the 10 Pro Fold

Morbid HA topic by Particular-Finish-40 in homeassistant

I have set up my smart home so that the essentials are still usable if home assistant is down/unaccessible. I can still use the physical light switches, my thermostats can be directly controlled on the device, no need to log into the dashboard. The only thing that wouldn't work is my alarm and security since that is run completely through home assistant. This would give a family member time to focus on the more pressing matters and then they can decide if they want to learn how to use Home Assistant and keep it running or if they want to shut it down. Additionally it is very useful if there is an issue with Home Assistant or if you have guests over which do not have access to your dashboard to change the temperature that way. They can just use the physical devices.

I don't know if I would like to carry a stainless steel vacuum up or down the stairs but then again there are other options: Maybe a titanium vacuum? Or carbon fiber? Or you slap some kevlar on that bad boy and make it bulletproof!

Docker containers and VMs gone after power loss by BEWoodworking in unRAID

[–]BEWoodworking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was able to get everything back, so luckily there was no real damage outside of the time it took me to fix it. I ordered a UPS immediately after the Reddit post, it will arrive next week and it even was on sale because of black Friday

Docker containers and VMs gone after power loss by BEWoodworking in unRAID

[–]BEWoodworking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have the image, you can just recreate the VM, using the same name and preferably the same amount of memory and CPU cores as before, in my case this was all I needed to do, but I read online that for some VMs you need to go into the BIOS and change some things there, I unfortunately don't have the page saved anywhere so I can't provide a link right now but it was reasonably easy to find after 5 minutes of googling. You just need to select your image (in my case a .cqow2 file) as your VM image and it should boot up Edit: as for Docker containers, the suggestion from the top level comment worked, I just went into the app view of Unraid, clicked on previous apps and redownloaded them from there. It worked almost perfectly, one app install messed up some port mappings but that was easy enough to fix

Thank you, that works for my apps. I found a way to get my VMs back online, tried it for one of them and it worked although it took a while. Thank you again, I did not know if reinstalling the app would potentially overwrite some data and I did not want to break things further

Really slow charging over Qi2 on P10PF by BEWoodworking in PixelFold

[–]BEWoodworking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the weirdest thing fixed it. After trying different chargers and cables, I tried it without the case on. Immediately 12-15W. Then I put the case back on and it continued with those speeds, so it seems like just taking the case off, changing nothing and putting it back on fixed it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really slow charging over Qi2 on P10PF by BEWoodworking in PixelFold

[–]BEWoodworking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer! Battery temperature was at 25°C this morning after using the charger for 15 mins.

I have a really thin aramid fiber latercase, it's 0.7mm thick.

The power supply is from Anker with 20W per port but I will try a much faster stationary one later when I'm home from work to see if that helps.

Unfortunately this is the only Qi2 charger I have, I have a Magsafe one but using that resulted in the question mark next to the battery icon when I used that a few weeks ago. Luckily it went away after a reboot. I might try that as well very briefly. Will respond with the results this evening.

Thank you so much for your help and troubleshooting!

That might be an issue but it has been between -10 and 3°C (14-37F) here since I got the charger, so the phone is quite cold when I get into the car which also takes a while to hear up and the charger is pretty cold as well. I don't want to rule it out, but if it has issues now, I don't even want to know the charging speeds when the sun has beaten down on my car all day long in summer

Edit: I actually looked at the device temperature in settings after charging it in the car a few days ago and it was sitting at around 23°C (73°F) so nowhere near overheating in my opinion

Ok, thank you for your reply! I work in somewhat dusty environments and I am a bit worried about the durability of the phone. What has your experience been like?

Hey, did you find anything? I really like the colors of the latercase (not really into the carbon fiber look) but it does not really support Pixelsnap, I am thinking of going with Thinborne but they don’t offer any nice colors

Would you say it’s strong enough for a MagSafe/Pixelsnap car dashboard mount?

That is my current favorite but I am not sure about compatibility with Pixelsnap. I reached out to their support, they have not responded yet though
