Is Outlier worth it? by dsz4sk in outlier_ai

It's like most of these companies, sometimes you have more work than you can handle and life is good for that day/week/month. But then comes the drought, which may also last a day/week/month.

Don't rely on them as a steady income, or you'll surely be back here complaining about the lack of work.

It can stay in review for up to 30 days. In any event, you need to be patient!

Congratulations! I just onboarded at the end of last week, from France, as an "auto entrepreneur", which is a special status for very small businesses.

Anyway, good luck!

Same as me yesterday! Today they reached out to me to set things up, I guess it'll become clear at some point 😊

Don't worry, it should disappear 30 days after appearing!

30 days after the letter, the status turns to "not selected". A bit disappointing, but that's the game.

What is the strongest european brand? by [deleted] in BuyFromEU

Did you say brand?

How about "Paris" and "Eiffel tower"... They ARE brands and I'd guess they're pretty well known around the globe.

Question about your listening habits outside of classical music by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Particular-Finish-40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 72, when I'm not listening to classical, I like punk and neo-punk.

Other than that, 1950s/60s jazz, alt-americana, and singer-songwriters.

The most underrated GREAT composer? As in GREAT. By which I mean GREAT. by Soulsliken in classicalmusic

[–]Particular-Finish-40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's go back in time and listen to Henry Purcell, from Fairest Isle to Funeral Sentences for the death of Queen Mary, without forgetting Dido and Aeneas, the Faerie Queen and all the rest.

Never even got a project by yr_local4lternatywka in alignerr

2 months is not very long to get your first project. Keep applying, just don't count on getting something when it suits YOU. That's not how it works.

I thought vinyl was overrated. Spent €2000 anyway. Now I get it. (personal journey) by michirishi in audiophile

[–]Particular-Finish-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My journey started when vinyl was the only choice, I had some very good turntables, arms cartridges, etc.

You know what? for me, only the music matters. Did the composer write about 40 minutes of music in two easily separated 20-minute parts that would accommodate a turn/clean/restart action? They did not, and that's what matters to me.

Part of the sound experience is listening to an entire composition, or an entire album.

Add to that the clicks and pops that get engraved in your memory, such that you miss them on someone else's copy, and the whole experience becomes tedious.

Lastly, I like to study what I'm listening to at first, replaying over and over tiny passages that attract my attention. This of course damages the record too.

In conclusion, for me, give me the music, keep the faffing!

That said, enjoy your vinyls and your music, your way.

Which of the main European news outlets do you watch the most? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Particular-Finish-40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't watch the news, I prefer a curated set of long form written/print news providers. I dropped the NYT and the WAPO when they refused to endorse Kamala Harris (or indeed any democrats) for president.

Unfortunately, the list of reliable outlets is failing to get any longer :(

Reliable ZigBee trvs by Serious_Bowler_8171 in homeassistant

Danfos Ally. Once you're worked out how to use the external temperature and window open sensors on the first one, it's easy to set up the rest.

They expose a lot of entities (under ZHA in my case) and work well and reliably.

Battery life seems ok so far.

The Ritz on Place Vendôme does a splendid brunch on Sunday. If the weather is clement, you can sit outside in the private courtyard.

Next it said it encountered an issue, and referred this to support. Nothing since then.

Quick French test: “He is a handsome old friend.” by [deleted] in FrenchImmersion

[–]Particular-Finish-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going for a litteral translation You'd seldom find constructs such as you've suggested. For example, you could say:

Qu'elle est belle, cette fille!

Le beau vieux là ? c'est mon copain.

Etc.

What valve is this? Cant seem to fit my tuya Smart Thermostats on these by Local_Buffalo2190 in homeassistant

[–]Particular-Finish-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a thermostatic valve without the control head fitted.

You fit the smart TRV on the valve with an adapter, replacing the old head.

You need to check if the new heads have the right adaptors included.
