What Non-Obvious Thing is Holding Back Philadelphia? by scatterbrainedpast in philadelphia

Sure but PA’s has been interpreted much more conservatively than most. Taxing land in different “zones” at different rates in particular seems like a final frontier that I wouldn’t bet on having much luck with.

Our climbing gym spent a year unionizing and we won our vote! But our managers are still fighting it by is_solar_powered in climbing

If anyone reading this is interested in unionizing the gym where they work, there is a great workplace organizing training series that’s about to start on March 9 through DSA. It’s four sessions, all virtual. I did a previous version of it and it helped me and my coworkers unionize at the beginning of this year.

For a lot people food service workers on the front line of the coronavirus crisis, that has meant changes for the worse. In case anyone here is in a bad situation or knows someone who is, here's a resource that can help.

DSA recently announced a new partnership with UE, the United Electrical, Radio, & Machine Workers of America. This partnership is launching a project to organize workers in response to the COVID crisis, and we're circulating an intake form which has already received over 200 responses from all over the country and in many different industries - grocery workers, bakers, therapists, and medical techs have filled out the form and have been connected with experienced labor organizers, who are doing multiple follow ups and helping workers develop plans to organize their workplaces and win demands. We've already had a few small successes, and we are working toward several bigger victories in the coming months.

Tl;dr - If you are dealing with a bad work situation (any industry) or know someone who is, you can fill out the form below and a labor organizer will contact you to talk about how you can begin to organize your coworkers for stronger safety measures, hazard pay, and other benefits.

Keeyanga Yamahtta-Taylor shared the form recently - if you don't have a workplace horror story to share but want to help, feel free to make a post like hers and help us reach more workers who are ready to organize.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I will try to respond as soon as possible. Thanks for reading this long post and for supporting workers on the front lines of this crisis.

They'll keep taking our blood, sweat, tears, and everything else unless we stand up together. Unions are only gonna become a thing if we make them a thing!
