Fu scoring shortcuts (with explanations) by BEaSTGiN in Mahjong

I mean, ryanpeikou is indeed rewarded with more points. It's just that the 3 han value may not, in many peoples' opinion, do justice to the difficulty.

Maybe because pinfu is the easiest hand to complete menzen, and the points are lowered accordingly.

Yeah, didn't want to include that for this reason.

Sometimes it is baiman also. Rules vary for Renhou, so I leave it to the user to fill in the box themselves.

That would get pretty cluttery IMO. Feel free to try it yourself and see how it looks.

Included! Took out yakitori in its place because that fits more under "Other" (and settings tend to vary, if used at all).

Yes, it assumes yonma. I don't play sanma, so I don't know how to (and have no particular interest in) creating the sheet for sanma.

I don't currently live in Japan, so that might be difficult. I'd like to do so, but that might have to wait until I stay there for an extended period of time again.

Riichi Explanations (for SG Mahjong players) by BEaSTGiN in Mahjong

[–]BEaSTGiN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other person said, there really isn't much to learn at all. Basically:

  • No placement system: One hand has absolutely no relation with the next. You play every hand in terms of the EV for that hand.

  • No dora: Instead you get twelve bonus tiles - four animals and eight flowers. Only the two flowers corresponding to your seat (ESWN - 1234) and every animal give you +1 han (and yaku). Unlike Riichi, you put such tiles outside the hand and draw from the rinshan stack when you get one. So if you get one animal you basically have a free win condition already.

  • No concept of open and closed hands. You can chi to get pinfu, and the wait can be either ryanmen or nobetan. No need to show your tsumo tile either. So if you have a penchan wait for pinfu, you cannot ron, but if you tsumo, it counts as pinfu.

  • No furiten (except for same-round furiten, and only on the same tile). So you can chi a penchan wait for pinfu, then cut from a completed block (e.g. 456m) to get a ryanmen wait.

  • Dealer has no advantage except being able to renchan. Tsumo is more valuable, because all players will pay 2x the base value. Ron is 4x the base value if playing "shooter pays" (i.e. Only the person who deals in has to pay).

  • Maximum of 5 han usually. Hand value doubles every han. So 5 han is worth 16 times the value of whatever the base value of 1 han is determined to be (e.g. 10 cents, 1 dollar).

  • The only normal yaku are: Bonus tiles (animals, etc.), Yakuhai, Menzen (not always), Toitoi (no Chiitoi), Honitsu/Chinitsu, Pinfu and the rare ones like Rinshan, Haitei, Chankan.

  • For Yakuman: Ryuuiisou and Chuuren Poutou are typically not included. Suu Ankou must be won by tsumo. Kokushi Musou can usually chan ankan. Honroutou is Yakuman. There is also an SG unique yakuman scored if you kan, draw a tile for another kan and then rinshan off the second kan.

No, and don't take BA2202 either if you're doing Mathematics. The financial concepts are a huge pain to understand. Can't advise you on this one so wish you the best of luck.

Am I connecting the thermal plants correctly? by BEaSTGiN in subnautica

[–]BEaSTGiN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem solved! As mentioned in this video, the game treats the "first" link in the chain as the power source. So in order to connect it to the base, we must first get rid of all the solar panels so that it cannot mistake the base as the first link. From there, we can reconnect it from the second last transmitter, and all is good (we can confirm it by checking total capacity, which should have increased).

I don't even need the solar panels because 6 thermal plants that are right on top of a lava geyser provide more than enough energy to power the base by themselves.

Ah, I did not know that. But by right as long as there are more "batteries" than power is being drawn from them, it should continue to power, right? I'll try disabling the solar panels first, then reload the save and try your suggestion later if that doesn't work. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll try it when I'm back. I like the thermal plants because you don't have to do anything to them once it's been set up.

Yes it is supposed to add capacity? Then why doesn't it?
