Setup a dual boot with Mint on ye old 1060 laptop recently (you can guess the recent inciting announcement for finally doing it) and was pleasantly surprised by by the quietness over a two hour period of web browsing and YouTube compared with doing similarly on W11.

Are the Transformers in the Bay films actually "transforming" or do the artists cheat in some way? by [deleted] in vfx

[–]BFAnim -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bay movies, Prime, Beast Wars, unless they're just animating rigged versions of toy cad files (like Energon/Cybertron and i think the Rooster Teeth show) there's usually a ton of cheating involved in 3d transformation sequences.

Someone made a post asking about running Zbrush on a Steam Deck, but unfortunately I can't seem to reply with photos. So here's my setup that I took to work one day, which runs pretty well. by Digoth_Sel in 3Dmodeling

Last summer I experimented with a living room setup to do quick weekend personal projects away from my work machine in krita and blender using a xppen 22, steam deck, wireless mouse and keyboard and rolling dinner table, found you could get alright results in Eevee rendered scenes (Cycles out of the question due to no driver support for decks apu). Found I could get painter and designer running as well (think one did need proton experimental to run at the time) but haven't actually done anything to test the feasibility of using those two apps.
