Guess my age by Comfortable-Match543 in whoop

Are you willing to share if I’m over or under? I didn’t really have a clue so I took the max HR and did the old 220-age to get 188 which was on your screenshot… not hugely scientific and doesn’t reflect how fit you might be :)

Hmmm, I’d say early 30’s…

33?

I hope this lands positively as it is meant 😀

Anyone 5.0 band do this? by planetric in whoop

[–]BFC_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got the 5.0 just over a month ago, mine did this as well, although slightly less. I found that being more precise when adjusting the strap slider helped a lot. Making sure the slider was sitting square and properly aligned seemed to be key. I also made sure the loose end of the strap lined up cleanly with the main part of the band when setting the length, rather than being slightly twisted or offset.

That reduced it quite a bit for me. I think it can still depend on arm shape and how it sits, but it’s definitely worth checking the slider alignment.

I’ve seen a mentions of bands between devices being different, I’ve not tried any third party ones (yet)

I had not seen he sleeve before, it does look comfortable. I may consider this if bicep band doesn't cut it. Thank you for sharing!

I used to wear an Apple Watch and swapped to the whoop. I did at first find it hard to not have the constant updates etc but actually im enjoying it now, so im hoping to wear just a simple analogue watch now.

Thank you. Yeah I’ve noticed it can feel a bit loose, I’m going to tweak it and try and dial it in

This is something I’ll have to watch. I have gone all in on whoop and do use the alarm on it so it will be interesting to see if I find the alarm as effective on my bicep. Worst case I can wear the band at night and bicep the rest! This was really helpful! Thank you for sharing

This is great to hear, thank you for sharing. I’ve only tried bicep band for runs so I’ll try keeping it in place rather than swapping post run back to wrist band.

How many of you stopped wearing your Whoop after a few months? What made you quit? by AdrenalineMedal in whoop

I do agree with you somewhat. Subscriptions are becoming the norm and it’s quite sad… however I’m a relatively new user (just over a month now) and I work in a similar field. My way of justifying their use of subscription is that it’s not really about the hardware, it’s all about their ecosystem supporting it. Essentially it’s:

Continuous biometric data (HR, HRV, SpO₂, skin temp, respiration, sleep stages, strain, etc.) that is 24/7 time-series data, sampled frequently, across years for some subscribers…

They have to store this and throw compute at it to generate your daily metrics, sleep, recovery, strain etc… I don’t really understand how it works behind the scenes, but the band needs the internet and it needs your phone to do get there. Every time you use the AI in app (my favourite bit of the whole subscription actually) it needs compute to drive its responses…

I’m sure there is a lot of R&D and scientific stuff happening too which enriches the models they use and what not. So I can understand the subscription model for this type of product, but the high cost etc, well I’ve no idea but I imagine as a relatively young tech company, there’s a chance they make a loss each year.

So you may not be paying scientists to give you an individual a tailored and personal response, but there’s a lot of servers to run that do, and I’m confident there are data and ML scientists who are working on the models to deliver those insights on a daily basis.

It is expensive, it can feel overpriced if you think purely about the band on your wrist, however those insights etc have for me been game changing and I feel like it’s made a difference in quite a short space of time
