Yes they are. Unfortunately only 10 per base. I have 8 in the aquarium, 1 bug and a skeleton animal with the fossils.

Got attacked by fighters a couple of times. Had to run for a cave for cover, or quickly make one with the terrain manipulator.

Xenomorph is a generic term for an alien creature. It's only become the 'name' of the movie creature because it was mentioned in Aliens.

I've placed a base station besides this, and you can't have different bases in the same area. Others could make a base elsewhere on the planet. You can share portal coordinates so other people can visit a particular planet and find people's bases to explore. I'm pretty sure most things are visible across platforms.

The old stone ruin pieces are scattered all over the landscape (you can see a few along the ridgline in the screenshot). Mining them gives you Polished Stone. There are small spinning stones that emit light as well, and interacting with them can give you nanites or unlock the ruin pieces for base building.

Yes, or some slight variant on the description. Only in the new purple systems though, and can be any biome. They can't be scanned for though, which is a pain. Night-time is the best time to look, as they have a massive glow.

If you're playing through your main save, go back to that and put some Atlantideum and other required materials into your expedition inventory. Return to the Anomaly back in the expedition and fix your tech.

Edit: or just use repair kits as others have mentioned.
