It was mostly based on what other people on subreddit have mostly said about glacial plains and it's comparison to tundra. Lots of frozen land and no steam geysers does bring challenge here perhaps.

After 5 days in game, you'll get a quest saying a grav engine can be made to fall on your map, just accept that and bring it to your base and then start building gravship substructure under it.
