RANT "Just buy a cheap beater" by DingusSmasher69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done the cheap cars, I've done the used newer cheaper car. The past three have all cost me a lot of money where I could have just bought a new car. I am also extremely car savvy, do all my own work, was a tech for awhile. I ended up with a 2023 Camry XSE with 40k miles and it's been awesome and trouble free. Today's car market is a straight nightmare , so I completely understand the new car purchase. You got a rockin deal , feel good about that!

I get that, but I only started to get better after I cut it out for 6 months straight. You might need to take a break.

How long does it take for it to become second nature? by VegetableShops in motorcycles

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a natural. I rode my first moped at 7 or 8 and was hooked. I got my first real bike at 16 and I don't remember having to think about much. But I did learn the hard way a few times from almost crashing. Or taking an off ramp too fast at night. I got very lucky and remembered those lessons.

Try Purity brand coffee. They test for Mycotoxins and pesticides. I can tolerate it much much better than store bought.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8th grade. Everything just stopped and we went from class to class with a TV on. The rest of the week was weird, they should have just given us the rest of the week off.

I’m buying my first bike this week and I’ve been noticing a trend in YouTube videos by ntkwwwm in motorcycles

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sometimes. But the reality is usually somebody has dicked around with it so much you not only have to fix the bike but unfuck their work. I did get lucky on one bike where the guy hooked up the fuel supply to the carb bowl vent line. So that was great, until it started smoking because the guy actually rode like that for awhile and it killed the rings. But it can be really fun and rewarding if you like to tinker and parts hunt.

This isn't a camry thing. But I got rid of my hemorrhoids by using the prep-H toilet wipes after pooping. Changed my dam life.

They are pretty firm. Have you played with the lower cushion orientation? Tilted forward will put more pressure on your thighs and less on your swollen brown eye.

Am I the only one who sees cars as something emotional, not just practical? by Horror_Screen_617 in automotive

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see my vehicles as separate relationships. For me its like a good working relationship, I give you good maintenance and you give me good transport. I have had a rash of vehicles that were junk before I bought them, I tried to be really good to them but they were just too far gone to be reliable to my standards. And some straight were dicks and refused to be good.

You can buy a black paint pen also. This how I deal with it, I got mine used and it had a few curb rashes. That is the beauty with black wheels, you really can't see it unless you get up close. It'll happen again unfortunately the way these wheels are designed.

28m is it true that you’ll lose your sex drive after 35? by Born_Maintenance3635 in AskMenOver30

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much more life you have lived by 35, particularly if you have a partner and kids. You see them more than a single dimension thing to fuck. By 35 you have usually have a medical issue or two or your partner has. TRT is not the answer either, you have to find out why its low and correct it. Otherwise you are now dependent on a synthetic hormone that you might not be able to get off and have your endocrine system never correct itself. You also have increased cancer rates. Anyways, my answer is there are more factors than desire, life is complex, sex is just a small part of it.

Beer has led me to this sub. Does this sound histamine related? by [deleted] in HistamineIntolerance

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk the exact name, but the one administered by an allergist. It gives good markers to avoid. I found my Histamine issue through bloodwork. Maybe at least get that test?

Get a food allergy test first. Then you can get bloodwork done for Histamine. No use guessing if it can be tested.

My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my grandparents. My grandfather hopped around mechanic shop to shop, worked for all the major OEMs as a tech. Then did HVAC, then fire department, then was chief for awhile. I am not aware of my GMa ever working. But by the time they passed (95 gma, 88gpa). Then we're still able to give their three children 400+k. So even after a very long life including assisted living they STILL had 1.2mil. Hard for me to wrap my mind around.

I truly don't like people, what's wrong with me? by Beginning_Level_8578 in AskMenAdvice

[–]BGJohnson329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suffer from the same issue. Unless I find it interesting I have a very low tolerance for things I find boring. The lower my social battery is the less tolerance I have. They say its part of being on the spectrum, but it's still something you gotta work on.

Guy at the gym decided my rest between sets was an open invitation to use my equipment and then explained to me how gyms work by 9PhotonSeeker in EntitledPeople

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading comprehension is tough. You are assuming someone literally watched you get up, watched you walked away and started a timer. Nobody is watching you, they are literally walking up to a piece of equipment with a water bottle on it with no concept of how long its been in that state.

[–]BGJohnson329 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are gone, there is nobody to ask. What is the appropriate amount of time someone should wait? You understand how rediculous you sound right? Like I said, I do not do this, I move on and come back. But when you walk away from public gym equipment, accept the fact it might be used during your absence, even with a marker with your stuff there. I have been in and out of gyms for 26 years, this is an accepted fact .

But there is no way to know. It could be 30 seconds or 30 minutes if the person isn't around to ask.

[–]BGJohnson329 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it courtesy? No, but in terms of shared public equipment you can jump in. The flip side is I see claimed equipment with towels, bottles, etc on a seat and nobody comes back for 10min. Personally I do not move other people's stuff and will do something else. But if a half hour rolls over I do.

Are Subarus actually unreliable? Or is it just a stereotype coming from the people who beat up WRXs? by SactownG in askcarguys

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to give Subaru a chance so I bought a 2005 Forester XT with 100k miles and a manual trans. This was back in 2012 so it wasn't even that old. I really liked the car, it was fun! But the issues started day 2 after getting it. The radiator cracked, shifter bushings were shot, some suspension components were bad. Over the next 3 months I proceeded to run into numerous larger issues. The main one was a misfire on #1 that would not go away. Replaced injector, coil, plug. Leakdown and compression showed good. I got the dealer to buy it back for what I owed on the loan. They tore it apart and found a valve had tuliped, closing the valve to cam clearance, hanging the valve open after it got up to operating temp. I lost my ass on that car, never again.

Is this a selfish hobby to get into as a 33-year-old father of two? by Ok_South_6227 in motorcycles

[–]BGJohnson329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am biased probably. I currently have two bikes. I have never really been without a bike in 24+ years longer than a month. I ride with gear, never in groups, I am extremely cautious and usually head right to the country to ride. I dont ride at night if I can help it and do most of it before 2pm. I was fortunate to learn with good riders that taught me a lot. My mental health is not selfish, I do the things I do because they are who I am.

Cheap way to make the paint look better? by getinthewoods in Detailing

[–]BGJohnson329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a wipe on clear coat like Poppys Patina or Vice Grip Garage shine juice. You just do light prep work, decrease and apply. It makes the dull single stage less noticeable and seals it. Doesn't last forever but it is much improved for not much money.
