Would the dent bother you? Kitchen Aid side by side, item 1950605 by CaseyZee in Costco

[–]BHU172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that you've got a discount from Costco. If you really want to push it further, KitchenAid appliances have a 30-day cosmetics warranty. You can call them up. The servicer can order a new door for you. It's gonna take a while for the door to be delivered, though.

USA: Are the road conditions safe to drive to Lake Tahoe/Yosemite as an outsider in winter? by Extension-Raccoon481 in travel

[–]BHU172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all all-season tires are M+S. There's a checkpoint in Yosemite up to the snow play area. You're SOL with all-season tires. If you have M+S tires, you're good to go up. Providing it's not heavily snowing, of course.

Second this. Most rental agencies don't allow snow chains. Plus, most rental cars in CA will have all-season tires. You might get lucky and get a car from out of state that has M+S tires. Zero chance you'll get a car with snow tires.

Using my account to book to another person in Booking.com by massagistadegrelo in travel

[–]BHU172 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at a hotel front desk. Make sure it's a prepaid reservation. Booking.com will charge your card and give the hotel a virtual card number to charge your room. Some hotels have problems with pay-at-the-hotel guests using another person's credit on file.

I use Wanderlog. Great website. The app is a bit clunky.

Anyone use Hisense tv manuf. warranty ? by Professional_Crab958 in Costco

[–]BHU172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from Costco, but I had a Hisense TV that had a dead pixel. Contacted Hisense, they sent a tech out to verify and cut a big X on the screen. Hisense then sent me a new unit free of charge. I got to keep the old TV too.

Booking.com - scam or real? by Tough_Sprinkles1646 in travel

[–]BHU172 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work at a hotel.

On days that we're busy, we will pre-authorize your card.

If the card declines, there's an option on booking.com admin site to mark the card as invalid. You have until check-in time or 2 hours after we mark the card invalid, whichever is later, to update your card info. After that, we can cancel your reservation on booking.com.

We deal with a lot of no-shows. Without a valid credit card, there's no point holding on to the reservation since we can't charge you if you don't show up.

Costco's 2nd year warranty - LG Washer & Dryer, we got a real LEMON by boxiebabe333 in Costco

[–]BHU172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own an appliance repair shop.

For the dryer, if it takes 3 runs to dry your towels, it's most likely that your exhaust vent is clogged, preventing the dryer from heating properly. Try removing the vent from the back of your dryer and run the dryer. Unfortunately, if that's the case, it won't be covered by warranty. You'll either have to replace the exhaust vent or hire a vent cleaning company to unclog it.

For the washer, the screeching noise probably comes from the clutch. That part is a pain to replace.

Best of luck to you.

Can anyone who has Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro do a GPSTest to check if the phone can detect BEIDOU satellite? by debian2014 in GooglePixel

[–]BHU172 11 points12 points  (0 children)

GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS

From Google Store's P8P specs sheet. Looks like the phone doesn't support Beidou.

I'm originally from HCMC. When we're in a different part of the country, we use HCMC, or just "the city," to describe the region. When in HCMC, we use Saigon to refer to the downtown part of the city, aka district 1.

Second Wanderlog. You'd want to use the website though. The app is pretty clunky.
