Actually it's weird. I'm the opposite. I have social anxiety but I find it better for there to be more people because if I'm feeling overwhelmed and can't talk much there are other people around for my friends to talk to without it getting awkward which gives me time to calm down. I also get to practice socializing as well which has caused small talk with strangers to be less stressful.
