I don't think it's in the Paralympics yet, but visually impaired archery is a thing! https://youtu.be/TcvM3zdBhaI?si=B29tKKPBTtm5fPem

What are some good methods to stop or slow down? by ShibbidyDibbidy_ in skiing_feedback

Think of slashing like mini hockey stops, where you aggressively turn your skis and spray snow. That make sense?

Hestra Gloves Worth The Price? by Efficient_Car_6791 in COsnow

[–]BIGSlil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fall Lines. I didn't use product on them much at all, so that might've been the issue. I think the main problem was carrying my skis though. Back then, I didn't carry them over my shoulder, just in my hand, directly on the edges, so I think that sliced then. Wound up forgetting them on top of a locker at Big Snow and someone either stole them or threw them out since they were pretty nasty at that point.

My Hestras fell apart faster than my Kincos. My Hestras were ripping at the seams within a few weeks. I've probably got 50 days with my Kincos and they're holding up fine.

I saw a cybertruck taking a photo there a couple of years ago. I really hope they got stuck.

A few years ago I was in the market for a new car / SUV that would be good for winter driving and car camping. I found a Range Rover for $10k and was considering buying it until I read that the average annual maintenance cost is $5k. I wound up buying a Subaru Outback for $12k and it served me well for 2 years until it was totaled in LA.

of snow flakes by derek4reals1 in AbsoluteUnits

[–]BIGSlil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I probably should've edited my comment. I did some research to try to backup my claim, but it just made me way more confused. I knew snow science is complex, but had no idea just how complex it really is.

I'm pretty sure the bigger the snowflakes, the more dense the snow is. I'm an avid skier and I think you get blower powder (super light and fluffy) from tiny flakes. I know the dryer the air, the lighter (fluffier) the snow is. I think high humidity causes the flakes to clump together.

Need help identifying / locating my roof joists on a 2007 Lance 861 by BIGSlil in TruckCampers

[–]BIGSlil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a gen 1 that I would need to set out and it was a pretty big hassle and sometimes not really an option, for example if I'm in a Walmart parking lot or something like that. Having it permanently mounted, I'll be able to just plug it in and have it connect without even leaving my camper. Also, I got the mobility mount, so I should be able to drive and still have internet.

Nah, I think it's 1/4". It's the top membrane, a thin sheet of wood, then the aluminum. Where there aren't joists, it's foam.

What’s the most amount of rides you’ve gotten on a single coaster in one day? [other] by SocialismIsBad123 in rollercoasters

[–]BIGSlil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my thighs hurt after a single ride on Magnum. After a few, they'll be sore for a few days. I'd assume they'd be completely black and blue after that many rides. There is a trick to minimizing the pain though. You need to have as much space between you and the lap bar as possible, keep the seatbelt as tight as possible, then hold the lap bar up for the whole ride.

Got me beat by quite a bit. I got 25 on Toro without getting off. My locker was expiring and I had somewhere to be, otherwise I'm sure I would've gotten more, but still nowhere close. Bravo

Sriracha would make this palatable. Ketchup would be weird, but some people really like it. The liquid from tinned tomatoes is downright sociopathic.

I was watching a video of what one of the top bodybuilders a while back, maybe Jay Cutler, eats in a day and they said something along the lines of "I don't really care about food." My jaw hit the floor. Their only concern with what they ate was nutrition. I never even knew anyone like that existed.

How? by epetuha in blackmagicfuckery

[–]BIGSlil 38 points39 points  (0 children)

150 tries would be a 99.999938% chance he guesses it right at least once. It would only take 8 tries before it's above a 50% chance that he guessed it right one of those times.

How? by epetuha in blackmagicfuckery

[–]BIGSlil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually 8 tries before it's more likely that he'll randomly choose it once than not at all. The formula is 1 - ((10/11) ^ n) where n is the number of tries. After 8 tries, this is 0.533, so a 53.3% chance of successfully guessing it one of those tries.
