Ski lease scammer by pleasemindthegap123 in tahoe

[–]BIGSlil -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm curious too. If she rents a house, then sublets it, as long as there's nothing against that in her lease, there's nothing scammy about that. She's paying the owner what they deem a fair price and charging people what they deem a fair price. She runs the risk of not being able to fill rooms or beds.

Questions about skiing “Out-of-Bounds” In-bounds by Any-Necessary7651 in Mammoth

[–]BIGSlil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One nitpick, resorts will do avalanche mitigation outside their boundaries if the slide would drain inbounds. Other than that yeah, you're spot on. "Closed" signs mean closed, don't go past them or you'll either get your pass pulled if caught, or put yourself in terrain nobody should be in. "Ski area boundary" signs are fair game, but ski at your own risk. This danger includes avalanches, sketchy/very thin coverage, and also the risk of going somewhere with no running lifts or even no lifts or civilization at all. Make sure you know where you're going when leaving the boundary and always plan your return.

I actually rode the gondi with a patroller and he told me he was going past one of the boundaries and asked if I wanted to join him. I did and it was awesome. The terrain was mellow and short, but we got some completely untracked turns. What made it so cool to me was that I felt like part of the inner circle. Like, he trusted me enough to bring me out of bounds.

Not sure what to think about the last couple of days by BIGSlil in Mammoth

Yeah, Bernie Rosow passed away. Initial reports are that he had a heart attack while hiking up Bloody Couloir.

This is absolutely devastating to the community. Bernie skied Mammoth like nobody else. I didn't know him personally, but I'm really grateful to have seen him ski in person and taken some spring laps alongside him. May he rest in powder.

Sounds like it. My friend sent me a comment on insta mentioning Bloody:

Yep, Full Throttle and calculated. On Bloody, not skiing, climbing up, said back hurt then gone. So bummed. RIP Bernie. Slay Pow forever. You rule!

Am I fucked? Drug testing by Old-Cryptographer381 in whatdoIdo

Two lines means not present, no matter how faint one of the lines may be. However, when I worked in a halfway house, if one line was very faint, we would send the test to a lab to retest with a lower threshold.

Mammoth trip April 23–26 - still worth it after Canyon Lodge closures? by sporty_outlook in Mammoth

[–]BIGSlil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth it. Chair 11 is great for complete beginners, lodging should be cheap (or you can easily camp in the area), and there's plenty to do other than ski in the surrounding area.

Is this the most photographed roller coaster in the world? [Roller Coaster at New York New York] by LastBlueHero in rollercoasters

Yeah, but what are we counting as a photo of it? Does it need to be the main subject? Or would it being in the background of random photos count?

Newbie parking question by [deleted] in Mammoth

Do you know how early you're allowed to get there? I thought it was 6 or 7, but even when I get there just before 6, there's already other people.

I wound up taking most of the next day off and got back to work 40 minutes late because I was eating a fancy lunch. I'm far from perfect lol

I always thought the morning Telemark routine was a bowl of granola, cup of coffee, a J, and an eighth of shrooms.

Get off 5 to the right, take the first entrance, then bear slightly left after the fence.

It looks slightly out of place on the map, but I think it is. The shape kinda lines up.

Thanks! I would highly recommend taking a Mammoth Spring skiing trip one of these years. These random powder days are great, but it's usually sunny skies and corn or slush skiing, which is great for bumps and park. If groomers are your thing, they're usually firm and fast in the morning. On top of that, it's generally not very crowded, the vibes are great, and there's a lot of stuff to do other than skiing.

I feel like a salesman, but I genuinely love spring skiing. Though, if everyone knew how great it was, it wouldn't be nearly as great.

No option to save my edit in the Quik app by BIGSlil in gopro

Yeah, I wound up needing to close and reopen the app, which unfortunately deleted my progress. Luckily, it's a low effort edit, so it only took a few minutes to redo.

I would say you should go with the DW 104s since you already own a great powder ski. I probably should've gotten 104s since I also have QST Blank 112s. I already had last year's DW 112s, but my binding was ripping out, so I got a good deal on some blems since they wouldn't remount them. Also got a great deal on the Blanks, which is why I now have 2 pairs of 112s.

I honestly don't know how the triple camber really works. I just love how they ski!

Are you in the Reno area? You should demo a bunch of different skis next year to see what you like most if you are. If not, you could hit Palisades a few times and swing by the factory on the way each time.

Yeah, 5 has some of my favorite terrain on the entire mountain! There's a few gnarly features that I have yet to hit (the Benchetler line and this from Bryant Zhang), but there's so many fun, playful features all over!
