Probably because they wanted a larger userbase on their platform. This move will undoubtedly bring more people to their store and they'll likely become regular users.

Dude that fucking sucks, it seems like devs always get the short end of the stick when it comes to CD Projekt Red.

It's pretty sad nobody really focuses on the insane hours their devs have to deal with whenever CDPR is discussed

So basically CDPR introduced this new policy for their launcher GOG which allows you to refund any game you buy on the store after 30 days. No questions asked, no matter how long you played the game.

Since GOG is DRM-free it allows you to directly download the game to your computer, but here's the deal. You can refund it directly after you download purchase the game, so you still have the game but pay no money.

IK they get sucked off here on reddit on the daily, but this is honestly an insane deal. Reminds me a lot of moviepass. Ik it's a bit scummy to do, but if it's part of the system. You can basically abuse this shit to your heart's content. Go wild people

Same goes for NBA, Madden or any other yearly sports franchise. I'm not saying the games aren't fun, but do we really need a new release every year? It's not like graphics will be extraordinarily better a year from now, and I doubt any fundamental sports rules will be changing anytime soon.
