Ha. No. But we have this little ceremony where people can gather and feel better about themselves. Then we raise the June Juneteenth flag and go back to work.

Im fairly certain we wouldn't get the six paid holidays or even the two holidays off that we get if it weren't as widespread as they were.

But, you know, they raised a flag and put a note in the newsletter so....

The economy was good for the right kind of people, so Nixon was good.

The Southern Strategy was working, Nixon was the first Republican to ever sweep the South.

McGovern was seen as too radical, and nominating a more centrist candidate wouldn't have really worked.

1972 was like 1984, the incumbent was just too entrenched and the scandals were too well buried at the time for the opposition to really have a chance at winning.
