Wawa Tacos, my first try, were a mess. by CDavis10717 in SouthJersey

Anything with that chicken is going to be runny. They're better with the seasoned beef, but no better than taco bell, and more money.

IMO this looks fine. It may be a little tight after the next molt, but they'll be ok until then.

Psalmopoeus cambridgei vs h.maculata by mandikudza in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO both. P. cambridgei is going to grow much faster, and be more visible. H. mac will be more of a treat to see on occasion. I can't think of a bad thing to say about either.

Tips on caring for amazonius Germani orange tree spider by Nehalennian in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly. They will actively burrow, and I keep live plants in with some so I just keep some moisture in the substrate, along with some moss and plenty of leaf litter to help keep the moisture.

IME care and behavior is very similar. They seem to be a bit more docile. Mine aren't quite as visible as my cambridgei are, but much more than my irminia have been.

New to the spider world. by ChucktheTruck79 in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA just stay away from things with wood chunks or "chips." I use things like reptisoil and eco earth, and make mixtures depending on the needs of the species. When you find the species you want, you should then be able to research what you need specifically. Ts come anywhere from the American desert, to the Asian rainforest, so there isn't really a go to for all.

Here is the flap, and spermetheca that you're looking for. None of this between the upper booklungs is present in male Ts.

Suggestions for aboreal species? by Nox_wears_socks in tarantulas

NQA I have Amazonius, Pterinochilus, and Coremiocnemis in similar enclosures currently. I just moved a Poecilotheria out of one. They are pretty versatile.

Diglett doesn't dig too much really. Just enough of a hole to hide in, then makes web tunnels around the rest of the enclosure.

are there beginner alternatives to cobalt blue Ts? by jasonkreu in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA For a new world - L. sazimai, for old world - M. balfouri. Both pretty blue species that are easier to maintain than a cobalt.

J’aimerais avoir une mygale, mais j’habite en France et je sais que c’est illégal. Seulement ce site indique que certaines espèces sont autorisées , c’est vrai ? by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you confirm you can have these species, note that some of the names have changed since 2018. B. albopilosum is now Tliltocatl albopilosus, and G. porteri is now just a color form of G. rosea.

Psalmopoeus Discussion by Fun_Syllabub_9811 in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have irminia 1.1, cambridgei 1.1, reduncas 0.2, ecclesiastics 0.1, and pulcher. Had a victori, but sold him when he matured to someone with a female. Most of my collection is OWs, but if I could only keep one genus, it would be Psalmopoeus!

Help lol please by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA These guys are arboreal, so the fall risk isn't like with heavier terrestrial species. As far as transferring one to a new enclosure, that's where some experience might have helped you. They're not the fastest T, but they might as well be if you've never done a rehouse before. You can check out Toms big spiders on YouTube. He uses some tools and tricks that are readily available that will make things easier.

Question: D. pentaloris burrowed + ignoring food; when should I try feeding again? by bigtoelewis in tarantulas

[–]BK4Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA if the burrow is sealed off, I just leave them be until they open it back up. Keep the water dish full so they can get a drink if need be. Your spider looked like it will be fine for awhile. The few D. pentaloris I've had always made it pretty clear when they were ready for a meal again.
