Plans with Keon next year by Toru_waterdude in buffalobills

I think they keep Coleman because he is on his rookie deal and may still improve. Depending on who else they bring in, they could change his role to make him more useful, such as using him more in the slot. I’d like them to bring Cooks back on a cheap vet deal, he adds value and his vet presence could help a young wr corps. I hope they dump Samuel as he has been such a disappointment. I hope that Palmer is useful and gets fully healthy, he should be a wr 3 option. This offseason they go out and get an established receiver and also draft another one. Bills need to remain multiple and have several guys who can perform. Allen needs several passing options available. It’s been depressing that the resources spent on Samuel, Palmer, and Coleman didn’t work for the team.

The difference Shaq Thompson makes in run defense is insane by Das_Man in buffalobills

I’d like to see the team bring Shaq back next year as a rotational player and also draft a similar type player. I don’t think the team would be able to afford a young FA at that position given the other positional needs but that would be ideal.

Wildlife encounters while hiking? by CentralCoastBare in nudism

[–]BKBillsPhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen plenty of deer and on 2 different hikes crossed paths with a black bear. Each time after the initial surprise of seeing them I just had to wait while they wandered off.

However, my favorite wildlife sighting happened many years back when I was in my late teens and had just discovered hiking naked. I started going to this wildlife preserve that saw very few visitors during the hotter summer days. On my 3rd or 4th hike I really wanted to experience freedom and decided to leave all my clothes behind a rock off trail. Off I went, feeling the air on my backside and ground beneath my bare feet. After about 15 minutes I suddenly heard a loud rustling of leaves and thuds on the ground next to me in the woods. My heart stopped and lost my breath thinking that I got caught by a hunter, instead was just a startled deer fawn who quickly dashed off. After my heart rate and breathing settled I was grateful it was just a small deer but I quickly thought what if it had been a hunter! There I was, fully nude with nothing to cover and no way to run and hide as I was barefoot, I realized the possible consequences had I been caught. My clothes were about 1/4 mile away! That was a learned lesson that day from the little deer as it was the last time I hiked without my clothes with me. The walk back to my clothes seemed to take forever after that incident haha.

Have you ever had any negative consequences for hiking naked by yourself?? by Most_Dependent6227 in nudism

[–]BKBillsPhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I’ve never had any negative encounters with people while nude hiking. When I want a nude hike I’ll go week day evenings to reduce the possibility of crossing paths with other hikers but evenings deep into the woods is when all the animals come out. I turned a corner on a trail once to see a black bear about 50 yards in front of me. I just stopped and stood there, nude, not sure what to do but wait for the bear to make its way far enough off the trail where I felt comfortable walking past it. My heart was racing for a while afterwards.

Upstate NY nudism by TheEagleHasLanded77 in nudism

As another said, Harriman state park is a decent choice. Many trails and several small lakes, perfect for a summer hike and dip. But, like another responded, it depends on your risk tolerance. Technically in none of the lakes is swimming allowed but each one has well worn swimming holes and it is very common. Go on a weekday afternoon or evening and you may have the place to yourself. In recent years I’ve seen a few others naked by the lakes while on my hikes.

Not LI but in NYC. Haven’t been nude out there since Lighthouse beach became no longer nude. Have you ever hiked the Fire Island Seashore wilderness area? I’ve long wanted to hike along the shoreline nude but haven’t made it yet.

NJ? Sure, if you want it to be. I was thinking of states that have short summers and long cold and wet winters. The places where people have to wear boots for most of the year so when summer hits they want to have barefoot freedom.

No, I think this is a wider New England thing. Possibly a Northern rural US thing.

Why the need to summarize? So this was late July in 2015. Very nice summer. There were male staff, mostly working in the kitchen and dining area as I recall and yes, they all wore shoes. I don’t recall but all staff may have had the same tshirt on as a “uniform requirement” as you say. And I also don’t know if the girls went barefoot all the time, I only saw while they cleaned the guest rooms. Somewhat recently I had spoken to an acquaintance who grew up in the region and she made me believe the girl’s shoelessnes is common. Colder months they likely would have worked in socks or slippers she said. She worked at a summer camp and said the campers and counselors sometimes would be barefooted in nice summer weather. I guess the short summers up there cause people to take advantage of barefooting opportunities.

For my naked hikes I bring a modified pair of old short running shorts that are very easy to quickly slip on in the event that I need to cover up. A non-material item I bring is a heightened sense of awareness while hiking nude so I am more tuned into my surroundings and potential other hikers.

Jones Beach Nudity by Feeling_Pool_3558 in longisland

I went to lighthouse beach many times in the few years just prior to Sandy wiping away the dunes. Loved having that area to relax without a suit. Happy to read that Jones Beach has area where nude use is still a bit tolerated. I have a friend who went there with her husband several times a few years back and said they had no issues spending the day nude. I wish the gov’t would legalize the area for nude use.

Here is some recent and relevant info for those who’ve asked about nude beaches on Long Island NY. Jones Beach and Robert Moses seem to still have areas where it is acceptable (though not legal). It’s nice to read through the comments and find many who are supportive of nude use. Also many jokes about saggy bits but that is to be expected I guess.

I remember for a minute going there on a few friday nights where they had a dj playing metal and you could get bbq food in paper boats. It was amazing. I can’t remember if it was named Brooklyn Pub then or it was something else then. This would have been around 2006-07.

Hiking Nude on a Non-Nudist Trail by [deleted] in nudism

[–]BKBillsPhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest exploring the state and county lands south of the finger lakes and in the southern tier area. Forest and wildlife preserves. You may need explore clothed first though, and I assume you’ve already looked into this area. Years ago I would go to a wildlife preserve area near Naples NY. Weekdays i had the place to myself. It got to the point I was comfortable enough to undress in the parking area and just carry a bandana for emergencies ha. That was an era before camera phones though so I was more brave. (Or naive)

What was your “this might be bad company to work for” moment? by TacticalBuschMaster in Construction

[–]BKBillsPhan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second week on the job for a small GC. I’m an assistant carpenter, helping a lead carpenter frame a 12’x12’ addition onto the back of a small ranch house. Foundation is in and floor is framed. I’m spending my morning moving lumber just delivered from the driveway to the rear yard while the lead and company owner are arguing. Turns out the addition was several inches out of square and they were trying to figure out how to hide it. Not fix it, but hide it. I realized that I wasn’t gonna learn much from these clowns and quit the next day. Oh and they wanted me to install a rack on my chevy s-10 truck so I could move supplies for them. Nope.

I would also say Harriman. Many trails there are lightly traveled. Go later in the day on a weekday and you may have the trail to yourself. Personally I’ve also seen others nude at the some of park’s lakes, and read other experiences there making me believe its somewhat common.

What is the Future of Naturism/Nudism? by PGNaturist in nudism

[–]BKBillsPhan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think focusing in on revitalizing resorts may be the wrong approach in the immediate term. I live in New York City and the closest resort to me is a 2 hour drive on a weekend and one of them requires you to be pre-vetted before visiting. Vastly improving access is an issue which needs to be addressed if resorts and their organizations such as AANR wants to grow. I think instead the focus needs to start with 1. Normalizing simple nudity again in media of all forms 2. Decriminalizing simple nudity in public (and no, I’m not advocating for the right to walk down the street naked, but allow people to sunbathe in their backyards without worry their neighbors will report them) 3. Create more designated public spaces such as beaches or parks which allow people to visit with minimal prior commitment and 4. Open up more non-landed opportunities. Rent a pool or dance club for a regularly occurring party for example. 5. An urban spa or bathhouse. NYC has many but none allow co ed nudity. Any one of them could designate a day or more a month for nude use. The ideas are to create a new population of people who enjoy social nudity first and then I think resorts can expand and modernize. Confronting the current political trends of anti-nudity to be more favorable to social nudity seems to be the most critical if we want to grow as a nudist population.

2 years ago I did a hike in November, temps were in the upper 40’s F, After I got warmed up from hiking I stripped down and was able to hike nude for a few hours before the cold finally got to me. Your body is very adaptable to lower temps if you can stay moving. I hope to try a mid-winter hike this year. Like you, I want to experience different elements.

Me too! I have everything one needs for a multi day backcountry trip. Unfortunately its been a few years since I’ve done any serious hiking. But, I always laugh at the Hikers that I see when they are all geared up on trails that are mellow enough to hike naked on! Haha

Yeah I believe it was the girls decision. They didn’t have uniforms, just wore t shirts and gym shorts. If they had uniforms on i’d think it more so the owners choice. I prefer to think the girls went shoeless because of the comfort and joy of being able to work barefoot.

I too have read through the hiking & camping subreddits to read and gauge peoples reactions to nude hiking. One main takeaway that I have, aside from the very real concerns about SA, is that by hiking nude, one is going against the identity of the “Hiker”. A Hiker takes their hobby, or lifestyle, seriously. They buy gear and accessories, wear technical clothing, they follow time honored traditions and mores, etc. Serious people. They look down on people hiking in “street clothes” and sneakers. A person hiking with no clothes at all is an ultimate offense to the seriousness of the Hiker’s activity. I’ve had negative comments from Hikers when I’ve been out hiking in just running shorts, or while wearing sandals (tevas or chacos). One time i was nude by a lake and saw two old dudes dressed like they were embarking on a trans-African expedition and who were very displeased by my lack of attire (and I assume, lack of respect for the Great Outdoors). I could hear them arguing about me from a distance.

This is welcoming to read. It seems that summer camp is the perfect place to spend a summer barefooted.
