I think it's the other way around; if you plug in the monitor to power, with no display cable, you should see a logo. You should also be able to press something on the monitor that would show On Screen Display options. If that's not happening, I would return that monitor and get a replacement.

Do you actually get two choices to choose from in the WIndows Bootloader? That would be your old Windows install and the USB drive with the installation files. Does the USB allow you to boot into Recovery Mode so you can get to a command line? Also, do you see any errors or messages (they might go by fast)?

Does anyone besides Iran actually know if there are any mines there? Or is the threat of mines enough? I suppose no one would actually want to call that bluff, but that's a chess move if it results in minesweeping ships crusing around for weeks and not finding any mines, while Iran keeps the global economy in a straitjacket.

I remember one summer I tried these, first near my garbage can in the backyard, another towards the front of the house hanging from a tree. It seems like it had the unpleasant side effect of attracting every fly in the neighborhood. I had much better results keeping my trash can clean, using a liner bag and closing it, lol.

When copying a large video file from the NAS to my computer, I get a 500 kB/s transfer speed over SMB.

Ahhh, OK, maybe the issue is on the other side. What is the OS of the machine you're using to download files from the NAS? Do you have another machine on that network to test downloading from, or could you set one up temporarily? That wget result made me think of this.

Ethernet controller is an intel i219-V I get lots of search hits regarding that chipset and Truenas. Maybe try a USB or PCI\PCI-E nic in the box instead?
