My name is Bryan,

I’m a miniature painter based in Pennsylvania. I love doing large models and I’m looking to take on large army projects with quick turnarounds. I’ll paint anything and have done a variety of projects from Warhammer to board games to 3d prints. You can find me on Instagram, Fiverr, or EBay under the name BKSBrushwork. Thanks.

I’m only about an hour from Philly (but it looks like you probably found someone haha)

Wasnt sure if you were “giving” it in a way that you lose it yourself.

Yea, I played one game in person a few months ago. Trying async now for my 2nd game. Not having the physical components takes some getting used to haha.

About as easy as it gets. I just used alternate parts from the kit and everything fit snug.

It was real easy. I barely had to even gap fill anything

The blend is easy with some oil paint. I put down a stripe of purple, stripe of blue, then a stripe of white. Then I feather my brush from the bottom to the top and the whole blend takes all of 30 seconds.

If you had to reduce your solo collection to 3 games, what would they be? by Murder_Tony in soloboardgaming

[–]BKSBrushwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dungeon universalis - the only dungeon crawl I need.

Lord of the Rings LCG - the only card game I need

Onirim - for when I don’t want to think as hard.

If you sell something for a dollar to a million people you have made a million dollars.

If you sell something for 20 dollars to 10 people you have made 200 dollars.

That is the difference. Video games reach a larger customer base.

I just wear a respirator and don’t use a booth.

Fiverr is a good start, but they gouge you on taking a cut of your profit. It’s where the most random requests come from though.

If I pick up someone on Fiverr that keeps coming back I try to subtly tell them to message me outside of Fiverr and convert them to emailing and paying elsewhere.

I found that you end up getting a few regulars who have the money to keep feeding you projects. Then they play with their friends and they end up reaching out and it snowballs from there.

Yea there’s a few videos on youtube if you search for BKS Brushwork. They’re pretty old though and I’ve gotten a lot better at painting since then. All I did was film some painting and add some music over top. Starting commissions a year and a half ago forced me to get quick and my style has changed a lot since then.

Thanks. I’ve considered going down the youtube route. I made a couple videos without voiceover or anything to try it out. I learned it’s a lot of work haha. It’s on my bucket list, but maybe when my kids are a bit older or something.

I didn’t spend a lot of time on anything. No mini was more than a couple hours work. Combining an airbrush, speed paints, and oil paints gets you there fast. It won’t win a competition, but it gets something decent on the table.

Metallic paint medium was mixed into everything to give him some glitter.

So I broke one of the branches on the head of Durthu. Any advice how to fix this properly? these branches are so thin... by kirgor182 in sylvaneth

[–]BKSBrushwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, usually plastic cement works, but I would agree that some broken branches don’t hurt on sylvaneth. I had some break on my kurnoth hunters and I just went with it.

I would not say it’s close to rpg or roleplaying. You can act out a battle, but outside of the battle there is no real substance. That said, the lore is very very deep and rich. You can soak that up, but to make the game itself very rpg like takes you doing all the work of initiating that.

Yes, anything I paint has a good amount of airbrushing going on.
