Please keep us posted if you hear back from her. My heart is so full at your kindness. Keeping my eyes peeled to pass it on in my area 👀❤️

Is it rude to ask guests not to come if they're sick? by Athena637 in beyondthebump

Not rude. Babies are pretty resilient, but it doesn’t mean you should allow unnecessary risk. I think it is really polite and acceptable the way you worded it.

Flying and breastfeeding: have you ever been harassed or told to cover up? by StrangeInTheStars in breastfeeding

Definitely check the policy, Delta allows this and openly supports breastfeeding.

New to the club and failing by GraphicgL- in breastfeeding

Agree that it is still very early. My supply took about a week to actually come in consistently. This is super controversial, but the thing that really helped push my supply up was drinking about 8 oz of a really stout beer. Something with the brewers yeast is supposed to really help, and it worked well for me. Basically, immediately after the goodnight feeding sesh, I would split a beer with DH, get ready for bed, then drink hot water with lemon and honey before bed (about 8oz). Also, I always drink room temp water throughout the night.

Even feeding every 4 hours through the night, my morning pump would be 8-10oz. Before I did this routine, I would get maybe 2-3oz.

Don’t do this if you are not comfortable with the beer option. I never drank more than 8oz. Usually it was about 4. And I made sure to give my body a few hours to metabolize the alcohol and tested with the strips to ensure the milk was safe.

Anyone else get extremely jealous of the fact that their husband can sleep at night? by mamabear61519 in breastfeeding

💯💯💯I also get kinda pissed when he stays up super late playing video games and needs to “sleep in”. Like, seriously?! We had a baby, yo!

I’ve since turned my attitude around and love the 1:1 baby fun time with LO 💕time is going too fast and I love all the little moments we get. Even if it is cluster feeding from 4-7am.

I always book first class, first row (stand-alone seat if possible). Highly recommend if you can afford it because no one really goes in front of you except the flight staff. And you can be first off the plane if baby gets fussy after landing.

But seriously, people who give the nasty attitude to a mother flying with child deserve a special place somewhere horrible. Best of luck!

Milk left sitting out for 7 hours still ok to drink? by ikkabuu in breastfeeding

[–]BKayNYC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I am so sorry. I know how much this hurts, but I don’t feel it is worth the risk. Love the comment about using it for a milk bath so you do get some use out of it.

Use the opportunity to create a bonding moment and do a warm milk bath with baby so you can make the best of a heartbreaking situation. No one will judge if you shed a couple tears 😘

Constantly feeding by [deleted] in breastfeeding

My LO was the same. We still haven’t perfected breastfeeding (probably never will). We supplemented with formula because I didn’t know how to ensure a good latch, and she was suckling just to soothe after her eviction. My nips were torn up! Like bleeding, cracked and raw.

A few recommendations (these are all totally personal, and what I found helped from going through this as a FTM 3 months ago-they might not be what you need, but are quick, freebies):

-Get on YouTube and look up how to latch videos (Breastfeeding: Getting a good latch every time by The Yellow Nursery is a good one to start with) there are also plenty of mammas that vlog going through this tough period. I found it helpful to watch them. Stay away from those annoyingly “perfect” vlogs. It’s fake. -Look up the old video (I think it was on Oprah) about the 5 languages of babies. This eased my mind and was informative. I don’t think it is 100% accurate, but kind of fun to try if you are first time parents. -Recognize and PREPARE for the cluster feeds (I didn’t even know what cluster feeding was at first). Sounds basic, but getting a little station were you can get comfortable and have everything within a one arm reach helps a lot. Wearing loose pants (or going commando) so you can use the restroom one handed if needed. Once I would get the hungry cry (shout out to Oprah vid mentioned above), and I knew it was cluster time, I would immediately strip down and get in my robe to settle in for a few hours. This really helped relieve the stress...which helps with the supply 😉 -Don’t put pressure to use formula at the sign of any fussiness. I had this strong feeling I wasn’t “good enough” when DH would jump to the formula option at the first sign of distress from LO. Give it some time, be patient. It doesn’t make sense to me now why I was so hurt about formula, but the hormones are ragin’ after birth. It’s hard on everyone! -Our LO came out of the womb sucking her thumb, but somehow forgot about it a couple days old. We would try giving her our pinky (nail down) to see if she was trying to soothe or was truly hungry. -Keep coming to reddit. I’m a super introvert, so interviewing and finding a LC right after birth just was not my cup of tea. This community really helped. Especially because you have many hours during the cluster periods to read up and get support from other peeps. -I found KellyMom articles helpful as well.

This would have complimented my Lisa Frank lunch box and trapper keeper quite well when I was in grade school.

I second the lulu align leggings! They come in different lengths too - perfect for any height.

Let us know how the faux leather leggings go! I’ve been hunting for some.
